    Type 2 BG Levels.

shaneabdelnour - I can't believe that you are drinking fresh orange juice . This is high carb high GI as is all fruit juice and is one of the things I immediately cut from my diet . You are much better off having a small piece of whole fruit. I buy the child size apples and pears. The...

    Type 2 BG Levels.

The only carbs I do are a small piece of fruit with each meal - never on its own and sometimes I have a slice of Burgen bread (Carb only 29 per 100gr) or Low GI bread which is a mixed seed loaf from a local bakery. Make sure you have enough protein and fat at a meal as they do help the carbs...

    Type 2 BG Levels.

In your case it sounds as if your medication needs sorting. I presume you are on some with those levels. I caught mine very early and I think that makes a difference.

    Type 2 BG Levels.

Yes I have also noticed that when you have a cold, flu etc the BG will go up and there is nothing you can do about it. I just tell myself that it is because of the cold/flu whatever and it will go back down when I am better!! I keep a record in Excel as in one colum you can write things like...

    Type 2 BG Levels.

I wonder how many of the problems above are due to over medication. I have been type 2 for about 4 years and I control purely in a low carb/low GI diet and exercise. My fasting readings can be anywhere between 5 and 5.9 but I like to keep it in the 5.3 range with 2 hours after eating less than...

    Nurse & Low Carb Diet

I am on no medication and have reduced my Hb1Ac to 5.5 from 6.8 with a low carb/low GI diet. I test every morning and more if my bg is high . I feel very grateful that I actually get a tub of strips on prescription monthly and it was initially from this that I found out what my body would and...

    Test Strips withdrawn

Thanls for that as any moment I am waiting for my monthly Freedom Lite test strips to be withdrawn especially as the Hb1Ac I had last month was down to an amazing 5.5!! I started on a low carb/low GI diet about 3 years ago and the only way I discovered what I could eat and what I couldn't was...

    Test strips on repeat prescription

Sounds as if I have been lucky!! Found out I was diabetic about 3 or 4 years ago and immediately changed my diet to low carb/low GI. I could not have managed without the strips to test which foods I can and can't eat. For instance because of testing I know that I can't take Maltitol whic his in...

Diagnosed Type 2 Nov 2009, Trying to contol BG

Personally I would up the fats. Lots of full fat lovely cheese and lots of nuts. I would say that porridge AND rye bread was too much in one meal. You could have had porridge and a full cooked breakfast minus the hash browns and baked beans which have too much sugar in the sauce but bacon...

    New tonight!!

I have only ever had 2 Hb1Ac's because I don't like going near Doctors. My first was 5.7% - that was well after I started my diet when I found out of their existence and asked for 1one and I had one a few months ago which was 5.8%. BS this morning was 5.5 - still very acceptable to me!!

Are you on a low carb/low GI diet and strict with it. If so your levels should be much lower. Don't rely on meds to sort you out !!!! Best advice I wasa ever given was don't eat fruit between meals but only with a meal so it doesn't spike your blood sugar

    Burning feet

I have had burning itchy soles with the skin peeling off for the last few months. It is a lot better after moisturising 4 times a day . It started off feeling like elephant hide but now feels a lot more normal. Yesterday again I had 2 places on one foot where the skin has split and I have been...
