    Feeling very helpless

@James321 If you look in our Parents section, you'll see you're not alone in your fear and frustration. A number of parents have had problems with teens not looking after themselves as they should. First thing - has your daughter's team got a psychologist that she could speak to about how she's...

You can get it on the NHS if you qualify @elouisexxx :)

    Type 1 Tiredness

Ok - well, maybe it's the highs? When I'm high, I hate it as I feel like **** - tired, irritable and like I can't concentrate on anything. I know it's a vicious circle - you feel tired from highs so don't have the energy to sort out the highs - but maybe you could gradually work on them and...

    T1 scared of pregnancy

@kpa Just picking up on something you said in your opening post - it's extremely unlikely one slip will damage any child. All pregnant ladies occasionally get blood test results that are out of target. It's prolonged, frequent highs that cause damage not a few highs that you correct. If you...

    Driving with Diabetes

No, they wouldnt. The DVLA have various rules that apply equally to all - rules about medical conditions and fitness to drive, rules about eyesight, rules about age, etc etc The OP didn't make a mistake - he was honest. The rules aren't there to inconvenience us. I find it a nuisance having...

    Insulatard - Hypos

@Pixelle The rise in the morning could be Dawn Phenomenon or a waking rise. I find eating breakfast first thing rather than delaying it, helps a lot. With your nighttime hypo, what time did you eat, what did you eat, and what time did you test and get 8?

    Hypo or not hypo

If you're in the 4s you're not technically hypo @barb1 However, as a Type 1 on insulin, I find I can feel like I'm hypo at higher numbers if my blood sugar is dropping fast (because there's a slight delay between your 'real' BS and what shows on the meter. Also, if you've been used to higher...

    Type 1 Tiredness

When you say you've been struggling with your blood sugars, have they been high or low (or both)? High BS can cause tiredness, as can lows. Have you been tested for things like coeliac disease and thyroid problems?

    Side effects!!!

I only get thirsty when my BS is higher than normal @busydiabeticmum I did seem to be more thirsty during pregnancy though. My BS were fine. I assumed this was because of the increased needs of my body supporting a baby.

Hi @Andrew_Ezzat_ :) Are you talking about the anti-rejection drugs people must take after transplantation?

Low carb - but high sugars - advice please!

Google 'physiological insulin resistance' @StewartH It's a recognised phenomenon. Not every person gets it, but it is a definite possibility. As always, we should all pick the diet that suits us as individuals. We all have slightly different "promised lands", to use your term :)

    Being Induced very early :(

Hi @Cidem89 That must be hugely stressful for you. All I can say is that sometimes it's best for baby to be delivered, and that it would be a decision your team took very carefully. I'm not sure if there are ladies here who delivered quite that early, but I believe there are some who've...

    Help needed

Can you eat out for your evening meal? For breakfast, many supermarkets sell ready prepared things like hard boild eggs, ham, cheeses, etc. you can also buy breakfast out and leave the bread if you choose.

    Five To Drive?

I like to be above 6 to drive. If I'm about to start a long journey, I'd think carefully about having a snack even if I was 5. Better to run slightly higher in the car than risk killing yourself or others.

    Type 1 Perpetual Hypo

If I've miscalculated my bolus, I often eat extra long-acting carbs to make up for the wrong bolus. I don't always do it, but sometimes I find it necessary.

Hello @PaulWay :) What type of diabetes do you have?
  17. azure

    Very confused

That increase is absolutely minimal so I wouldn't worry about it. If you tested again last night after your 7.8, you could well have got further results of 8.1, 8.0 etc Results can vary slightly even if you test using a different finger.

    Concern upon body

@HuNTeR124 It could be to do with your diabetes, but it might not be. The best thing to do is ask a doctor and get an answer as to what's causing this.

I heard sth about pancreas transplant.

Because the disadvantages would outweighs any advantages. You'd have to put your immune system pretty much out of action to attempt to protect your remaining islets, putting you at risk of something nasty taking advantage of that. Not to mention the potential side effects of the drugs themselves.
