Type 2 Diabetes and Sertraline (Depression Med)

The sooner you can get a doc's appointment the better. Angle for an emergency appointment if you can because that dizzy combination of high glucose and tiredness could affect your mood badly. It's definitely not doing your glucose control any good. Is this high BS side effect listed as a...

Please can we have a forum section on reactive hypoglycaemia?

Just stumbled across this forum and read the description at the start of it. Blimey. I think I'd been RH for years before I started to put on a lot of weight. Fast forward to my T2 diagnosis last month.

    Don't know how....

Please be assured you are definitely in the right place. I suffer from anxiety too and have been on antidepressants for years. Just before I was diagnosed T2, I asked my doctor to change my medication because I was getting jittery over all sorts of things (like seeing people - not good if you...

    Don't know how....

Everyone above has given superb advice about looking after your feet and to keep your appointments, so I'm not going to say the same things. I'm more concerned about your general wellbeing. Apart from the initial shock of diagnosis where a part of you does go into denial and another part says...

Newly diagnosed and freaking out :(

DaftThoughts is right - I managed to eat steak with a small portion of chips the other week with only a moderate rise in BS. The oil in the chips helped slow the release of glucose. And a handful of fresh cherries with a small bowl of full-fat yogurt did not provoke a spike. Chips are going to...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.8 this morning. This is a couple of days after a shocking 9.5. I looked at what I'd eaten the previous evening, no surprises there. I can only put that rogue reading down to being a bit stressed. At least it's back in normal numbers now.

    Going Out/alcohol

Hi Swissgirl, I'm getting the same thing as you; not a huge rise the following day, but a rise nonetheless. One small glass of wine doesn't make much of a difference but two does. These days I stick to one glass every other day and drink loads of water. Occasionally I'll have two if it's a...

    Good Morning

Morning! 6.2 today. Liam, thank you for your kind, encouraging words. The sixes and sevens are fasting figures and the fives and the 4.9 were evening readings.

    Good Morning

@Liam1955 - I'm only very recently diagnosed. My first Hba1C, which rubber stamped my diabetic status, was 65. My next one is due in November, so I'm hoping for a far lower figure. My recent daily blood glucose readings have been predominantly 6s, a couple of 5s, a couple of 7s and even a 4.9.

    Lchf And Fruit ?

I ate some full-fat yogurt and 10 cherries for breakfast last weekend and was fine. Maybe the fat in the yogurt helped slow down a potential spike.

    Good Morning

    It is indeed!

    Good Morning

Good news! Doc is very happy with my progress and doesn't want to see me again until late November/early December once I've had another Hba1c test. He gave me the green light to continue with my LCHF, was happy for me to continue monitoring my glucose. He also encouraged me to continue finding...

How Far Do You Go With Intermittent Fasting?

I'm very interested in trying this. Since I've been low-carbing I've stopped feeling hungry for much of the time. Yesterday by lunchtime I still wasn't hungry (scrambled egg for breakfast seems to work very well) and didn't eat anything till around 3pm, when I had a handful of almonds. By the...

    Good Morning

Morning all from sunnyish London. Off to a doc's appointment in an hour or so. It's two weeks today since I found out I'm T2, so I'm going to do my best to persuade him that I am managing fine with diet and exercise alone. Wish me luck!

    Coconut Milk

Thank you all. I think I'll try it out anyway, along with all the other milks, I'm quite fond of almond milk but haven't had any since diagnosis.

    Coconut Milk

It's been a great and very tasty two weeks trying LCHF recipes and combinations. Overall, I've had great results with my experiments and only one dud - red lentil dal - that sent my blood sugar skyrocketing. The next thing I want to try out is coconut milk, having read mixed reviews about what...

Yawn! Up an hour earlier than normal. 6.6 this morning.

    Exercise Advice

It's still early days for me as I've only been monitoring BS for a week, but sometimes it rises slightly after exercise, more often it falls. I walk a lot - if it's only a couple of miles, it does rise a little (say from 6.1 to 6.8), but three miles plus the figure after the decimal point falls...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Boo! Following my best fasting score of 6.1 yesterday, up to 6.8 this morning. So it seems last night's lentil dal experiment was not so successful. Shame, it was delicious. I forgot to measure pre-breakfast too (don't eat breakfast until I get to work, having walked the last couple of miles) so...
