How to lower blood glucose without losing weight

My doc has a rather different approach. Just had a Hba1c result of 6.5 and am still not qualified as diabetic, still on diet only, and amazed that I have dropped from 6.9 despite doing some baddd eating since it was my birthday just before the test. (Well ya gotta eat some of your own birthday...

What's happening?! Rising glucose at night.

Don't know the answer, but do suffer from the same symptoms. Will be watching for replies. Going slightly mad with the insomnia myself. Did get a good nights sleep last weekend, but I think that was mind over matter as i didn't want to get out of the tent to trail to the loo.lol

How old were you at diagnosis?

Re: How were you at diagnosis? Diagnosed by new Dr. 3 years ago, revised 9 months later, when properly tested, to pre diabetic. What I don't get is how come their are soooo many more people being diagnosed nowadays. Better screening?or have they shifted the numbers? 3 years ago I knew 1 T1 now...

    Denial or natural reaction?

Hi Gingercat, Don't be so hard on yourself. Over the past two years I have gone through all the phases quoted above and I am still drifting between bargaining and acceptance, so for someone who was recently diagnosed, and has all your problems, putting it to the back of your mind is quite...

Does Obesity cause Diabetes, or does Diabetes cause Obesity?

Re: Does Obesity cause Diabetes, or does Diabetes cause Obes Well said Sid. I have insulin resistance, but have never been fat, 9st 12 at heaviest, and 8st 10 at present. What's more we have no family history of diabetes so that theory is out too. There are only three factors that I can think...

    Get your 5-a-day

Since my Christmas pud contains dried fruit, and my dinner is accompanied by sprouts, cranberry sauce and parsnips, and bucks fizz is a must for breakfast I guess at least for one day I will definately have my 5 a day. Probably blow all my good work with the diet, but what the hell :twisted...

    sugar content?

Blimey that seems a lot of carbs per meal. I know some folks on this site that would think that 60 carbs a day, not per meal was more like it. Now I don't low carb but 180 carbs a day does seem a bit excessive. I aim for 20-30 for breakfast, dinner and no more than 30 at my evening meal...

    confused

I too have had the glucose tolererance teat and scored a 10.1 which counts as pre diabetic, ( 11.1 apparently means you are diabetic so a bit close for comfort , checked it out online too as I never believe anything the quack tells me) Was also told to stick to a healthy diet and just...

    coincidences

I work in a charity shop and have for the past 5 years. In that time 5 members of staff have been diagnosed with diabetes. Before that I worked in another charity shop, and today I bumped into on of the volunteers from that shop, and guess what - she had beeen told she was diabetic too. Let this...

    Lowish carb bread

Has anyone else tried Morisons new malted wholemeal danish. States only 6.1 carbs per slice, and still tastes like bread. :) I love it. I know it ain't really low, but i took a reading and it works for me. Beats the weightwatchers stuff anyway.

    After meal high readings

Hello from another prediabetic. How about making an apointment at the docs, just to put your mind at rest one way or another. We are more likely to become diabetic, but personally I am following the advice on the forum and keeping fingers and toes crossed. Hope it works out for you.
