    Diabetic dog?

The Vet has seen her that's where the estimate of near £400 come from. I've booked her in for further examination and the £400 might be the tip of the iceberg. No insurance  The neighbours have been spoken to several times and I've cut down on what I feed her.

    Common Colds

For the past few days I've been fighting off a cold. I've not been taking any of the medications for it as I don't believe any of them actually work. I'm sure I've read on here that colds can raise the BG level but this week I've been going into the lower numbers too often. By lower numbers I...

    Diabetic dog?

How do I know if my dog is diabetic? Would she have similar symptoms to mine? She is an over weight 8 years old boxer. The weight is mainly due to kindly neighbours feeding her through the fence. An 'ulcer' has developed on a back leg which just doesn't heal. It does not cause any trouble to her...

Cost of testing strips - charges for diabetics

Mine are prescribed by my GP. I thought everybody's were. Or am I just lucky with my GP / area health authority.

    Well here I am

Survived my first holiday in a warm climate since diagnosis. Apart from one low - my own fault. A half bottle of rose wine for breakfast is not recomended. I learnt several things though, the main one being an 18 year old daughter is not old enough or responsible enough to be left alone at...

How can I tell the difference

By suitable environment I mean I could be on a roof or in a trench or any where between. :D My symptons for both hypo and hyper are very similar shakey sweaty nauseous. In previous posts I have said I never had any of the usual signs of diabetes needing toilet increased thirst etc., and was...

How can I tell the difference

I feel rubbish when my bg is high and the same when it is low. How can I tell the difference? I don't always have a suitable clean environment to do a test. The symptoms of both are feeling shakey, and nauseous. Apart from that I'm off on Saturday to Portugal my first holiday to somewhere warm...

I suppose we all have days like this

Feeling miserable and down, generally feeling ****. I wasn't ill until I was diagnosed. It was 20 years since seeing a doctor, I never had nerve damage, numbness or pins and needles in my legs. It's all only come on since I was diagosed as diabetic and that was as a result of an accident :cry...

    newly diagnosed

I was in denial for the first 12 months, never changed my eating habits at all. I found out hopefully not too late that metformin is not a magic pill. Keep reading this forum there is plenty of good advice.

vibration / power trainer / power plate

What I meant to say was how could I pursue any claim for nerve damage caused by vibrating plant if I used a piece of equipment to induce full body vibration for leisure purposes.

vibration / power trainer / power plate

What's this? I would avoid any contact with anything that vibrates for a long period of time. Taken from Wikepedia vibration white finger. Loss of manual dexterity (nerves and muscles affected): In more severe forms attacks may occur frequently in cold weather, not only at work, but during...

    Type 2 & Insurance

My GP told me to let my insurance company know I was diabetic and that he would put it in my notes that I had been told. The insurance co. just said they would make a note of it. Yours would probably do just the same.

    Blood Pressure

My last BP test was 125 / 79. I don't know if it was good or bad and the nurse just mumbled something. :?

    Too low to sleep on?

Hi Lizzie I had the 'recognisable' symptoms - shakes , feeling ****. I've had a few low results before but not close to bed time. The lowest I've seen was a 3.1. They seem to be more frequent since my GP upped the Gliclazide. I must go and discuss it with him. As for jelly babies, fruit...

    Too low to sleep on?

What BG reading is thought too low to go to bed with? Last night I had a reading of 3.4 before bed so I had a bowl of frosties. ( I know it was the wrong thing too have ) This morning I found it very hard to come fully awake, probably overdosed on the sugar but it got me thinking if it would be...
