    Alternatives to forxiga

Thanks all - I’ve just had a look at the different options (admittedly alone not different combinations) and feel thoroughly deflated. I’m already on insulin so don’t need anything that will help me produce more (because they don’t work, hence me taking insulin), I can’t face another drug with...

    Alternatives to forxiga

Hi all - I’ve been told I have a type 1/type 2 hybrid. I’m on insulin but I’m very insulin resistant. I’ve taken max dose metformin for years and was given forxiga earlier this year, but I’m going to have to stop it. I’m frequently getting up to the toilet in the night, need to drink...

That's worth knowing - thanks. Sorry about the kidney disease though.

    Lancet For Alternative Site Testing

Thanks! A kind poster has offered to send me one of theirs [emoji846]. But it's worth saying that last time my microlet failed they said that they no longer supplied the adapter tip, then the new one doesn't have one at all (I'm told). Luckily the tip was still working, but it won't fit on...

    Lancet For Alternative Site Testing

Alternative site testing is where you use a different cap on the lancet so you can test blood on your arm, leg etc. Saves your fingers [emoji846]

    Lancet For Alternative Site Testing

My lancet broken today so I phoned Bayer for a replacement. Only problem is that the microlet 2 has been discontinued and the only alternative is the "next" version that doesn't allow alternative site testing. Does anyone know where I can get a lancet device that allows alternative site testing??

Blood Sugar Control Awful This Week - Weather Or Illness?

My blood sugar has been pretty bad for the last week. It doesn't help that I've been drinking diet/no carb/sugar free drinks more, which annoyingly spikes my blood sugar. I'm not a masochist but I've been stuck in places where only these drinks (not tap water) were readily available. The last...

    L-carnosine

I've just read an article that talked about L-carnosine and how taking supplements of 1500mg per day could improve type 2 diabetes. Has anyone else heard of this?

    Forxiga

Ha! Yes, sugar puffs, that might be if! Thanks - pleased it's normal in the grand scheme of things.

    Pepsi max/diet drinks

Thanks all. It's happened before - and it's really annoying. If I go to a pub there's pretty much nothing I can drink! I seem to be hyper-sensitive to sugar/sweetener/pasta/bread/potatoes/rice - and I don't eat meat/fish - I'm running out of options!

    Pepsi max/diet drinks

Why do these push up my blood sugar? Flavoured water (no sugar) is the same. It's all I've had tonight and my blood sugar has gone through the roof. I guess the bottom line is that I shouldn't have them if they do this, but I just want to understand why!

    Forxiga

I've just started forxiga in addition to insulin (pump) and metformin. So far, so good. My bg was in the teens and now is mostly single figures and I'm hoping to improve this further. But I've noticed my urine smells different (that is, it's noticeable, i don't routinely go around sniffing my...

    Anyone treated at Wythenshawe hospital?

I've just had a letter telling me I'm being move out of my usual insulin pump clinic and into another one with a new (to the hospital) consultant. Terrified that they're going to take me off the pump but can't get hold of anyone to find out...

    Lowering insulin resistance

That's interesting ringi, I shall ask in that case. I know I have high insulin resistance because I have to inject a huge amount of insulin to try to lower my blood sugar and it frequently doesn't touch it. My DSN agrees.

    Lowering insulin resistance

Ah I had a test for antibodies a few years ago and was told that it confirmed I was type 2 but not given any levels.

    Lowering insulin resistance

Hi there - 15 years with type 2, no idea about c-peptide test (what is this?), insulin is pump-based, basal throughout the day and bolus according to dafne. Diet is not the key for me. I did low carb for many years, not much improved. I did the Newcastle diet and insulin resistance became...

    Lowering insulin resistance

My insulin resistance is causing me problems with blood glucose levels. I'm already on the full dose of metformin and asked today about being given something else (if there is anything) to improve it. We discussed a couple of options, but I'm not convinced by either. Has anyone else had the...

    Very high blood glucose

Thanks both that's really helpful. I have been quite stressed and can't remember when I last had a good nights sleep (toddler not sleeping through the night). Im on insulin and metformin but that's it. I'm planning on starting some supplements to help me feel more alive/energetic, but not...

    Very high blood glucose

Hi there - wasn't sure where to post this. For the last few weeks my blood sugar has been creeping up. I put it down to eating the wrong things at Christmas, although to be fair I've given myself the right amount of insulin and I've still not seen it below double figures. I'd hoped it was a...
