    Dating with T1

I don’t know if it was...and since T1d is not very common in my country it’s very hard to adapt to the lifestyle changes! It was a struggle to do small things like eating out because (a) limited choices (b) I am still learning about a lot of stuff so had a lot of restrictions to start with...

    Dating with T1

@Deanoh and @helensaramay Thank you for your advice! I think a lot of my fear comes from the fact that I recently got dumped and my ex had been dating me since before my diagnosis. I think the lifestyle change and schedule may have become something he didn’t want to deal with (though he’d never...

    Dating with T1

Hello I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about 4 months ago. I wanted to know if dating is different or harder after your diagnosis? I’m really scared that people will not want to be with me because they may see the management as “too much to deal with” or may be very ignorant about it. I’m...

Is a pump easier to use than injections? Do you need to have stable glucose levels for a pump? I was diagnosed 2 months ago so my levels are still fluctuating a lot.

Type 1 Hypo at night despite snack

I’ll confirm it with a finger test too but I have recently started having lows (verified with a finger test) right after my meals or if I tend to walk a little after my meals. This has now been followed by night time hypos

Type 1 Hypo at night despite snack

I hypo around 2am every night till about the time I wake up which is 5:30. I take my lantus at 10pm. I reduced my carbs at dinner as well as my novorapid just in case that was driving the hypos.

Type 1 Hypo at night despite snack

I take 9 units of lantus at night. I usually eat a snack that has about 20g of carbs before bed. I still have hypos at night (have a CGM). I have already reduced my lantus from 12 units to 9 over the past month. Have also reduced my mealtime insulin. 1. How can I avoid hypos? 2. Should I...

Type 1 Not losing weight despite diet and exercise

I’ve been consuming between 1100-1200 calories a day and burning an average of 500 a day. I eat 120 carbs a day and my insulin is currently 3 units before breakfast and lunch , 2 before dinner. Lantus 9 units. I am unable to lose weight. What am I doing wrong?

That's normal in the beginning. Make sure you have Tylenol, it'll pass in a few days. As your body gets used to lower glucose levels these symptoms go away

I was actually diagnosed in DKA so that might have made a difference in dosage for me. They tested my pancreas for functionality and the tests determined that i only have 0.02% functionality, so basically none.

I think just enjoy it while you can! It can last years right? Maybe it'll last for years for you. Be optimistic!

Really? This is what my doctor told me. He didn't attribute it to a honeymoon stage as I produce no insulin. My requirements are gradually reducing though so that's good
