    For me it depends on how MUCH i drink, a pint of cider (strongbow / koppaberg ) will rise my bs very fast but can lower in the night when drinking at 8pm ish. So becareful how much fast acting you inject and slow previously on while drinking.

    I'm guessing she is a Type1.5 / 2 ? Has she brought / encouraged the diabetes through her lifestyle? If in the position it sounds like she is in i would definitely be stricter to pro long the life of the part operating pancreas. But once your a T1 theirs no going back.

    A very informative reply thanks but why would injecting more insulin be a strain? We inject insulin to deal with whatever amount of sugar / carbs we have; either small or large, which is what a normal body would do. Yes i understand for type 1.5 / 2's what i do would not be a good idea.

    Mostly very high 15+ but give it another 1-2 hours and there back down again, sometimes a correction dose needed.

    I still eat lots of bread but just inject a larger amount of fast acting insulin a while before to compansate. I don't see a problem with that.
