    Shortage of Creon in UK?

Got my batch now ! :)

    Type 1 Freestyle libre 2

My guess is that it's the course title, perhaps "Libre 2 Training Course," would suffice? Though if you've been offered a list of dates I'd have thought they would all be Libre training dates. Doesn't sound like a particularly well structured email you were sent.

    Blood sugar levels

If you haven’t already seen one, a chat with an endocrinologist would help clarify your situation. I was (eventually!) diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis which results in poor production of insulin and also has a very significant impact on the digestion of food and in gaining nourishment from...

Worried about damage done before diag

It seems to me that you have really got to grips with your diabetes and are making brilliant progress in such a short time. As your GP has said it does take a while for the effects of high BG to subside so I'd not get too stressed and just continue on your present course and see how you feel in...

    Shortage of Creon in UK?

I ordered my usual batch of creon capsules this week and when I went to the pharmacy to collect they could only give me one box instead of the normal six. They said there's a UK supply shortage. Has anyone else found this?

    Type 2 on insulin

I don't think your nurse has the final say, you should ask to see your GP and explain your concerns and request an appointment with an endo'. My GP apologised for not referring me to an endo sooner than she had.

    Lower carb smoking

I think a lot depends on the type of wood used. Fruit woods like apple and cherry, and maple wood tend to produce sweet smoke.

stickers on the freestyle libre 2

If you look at a sensor after removing it you can see right through it down the hole, so I guess this may let the skin breath – this is just a guess though. The sensor contains a tiny heat sensor – top right in the photo, and this presses against a very thin section of the plastic on the skin...

BMJ article by Dr Partha Kar

In the BMJ today there's a very interesting and hard hitting article by Dr Partha Kar in which he delivers a critical analysis of the dysfunctional processes within the labrynthine layers of the NHS and how these impact on the delivery of cost saving and life extending glucose monitoring...

    Type 1 Insulin dosage

Hi @Carl W . Forget the 'sugars' all you need to think about is 'carbs' as they are what you need to take into account as the 'sugars' are just a part of the overall carbohydrate intake. You really need to keep a diary of your carb/insulin regimen to see how things are going as you'll find that...

What is happening with our nhs

To my mind the primary problem with our NHS is the chronic underinvestment it has endured for the past several decades. The problem has been exacerbated due to increasing numbers of elderly patients and more recently staff shortage at all levels due to Brexit and also a fairly high number of...

    Gliclazide query please?

Like @Daibell I'm a slim diabetic and had actually lost a fair bit of weight when first diagnosed. I was prescribed Gliclazide and in combination with a low carb diet managed to get my BG to almost 'in remission' level. However my BG started to climb very high again and Gliclazide was...

    Monitoring Blood Sugars

Relying on an annual test is rather a case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. To establish a proper grip on BG levels really requires regular testing.

    Pancreatic Insufficiency

As far as I understand PEI can be a cause of diabetes, at least that's what I've been told was the primary cause of mine.

    Night time insulin (or not)?

With Libre 1 and Libre 2 you don't have to rely on a phone as you can use a Libre Reader which is what I do as I find the reader much handier as it's small and I also seldom use my phone unless away from home for any length of time. Now, after a few years with Libre, I've got a pretty good...

    Monitoring blood sugar levels

You'll certainly have a much stronger case now than you've had in the past, as up to now the prescribing of CGMs (Libre's) has been much of a post-code lottery. I'd suggest you speak to your DSN and/or Consultant and see what way the wind's blowing in your NHS area.

This webinar may be of interest as it covers the importance of time in range.

    Carry Cases/Kit Bags

I carry my 'in use' bolus insulin in my travel waistcoat along with my reader, needles and some glucose. All other diabetes supplies I pack in a rucksack that goes in the overhead locker. You don't need a special bag.

    Gliclazide

After initial diagnosis I spent about two years on Gliclazide without any significant hypos. I was provided with a glucometer and tested myself fairly regularly especially when I was educating myself about the impacts of diet and exercise. I also tested before driving to comply with DVLA...

    Gliclazide no longer working?

Yes, I'll go with the Gliclazide hammering your pancreas theory as I'm fairly sure that's what happened to me. I was put on Glic' when first diagnosed and the meds and diet and exercise worked and I was almost classified as being in remission, but then my HbA1c started to rocket almost to the...
