    Thankyou for support

"Any particular reason why porridge needs to remain a staple?" I should have said I am Scottish! I love my Gloagburn Farm oatmeal - tosted first then mad with milk. And salt! Porridge is not a staple for me at the moment - it is an occasional treat. Pakora is lovely, but it seems to be almost...

For those of you in remission

Regading the 'treat' I am not in remission but my palate has changed. I got a small, cheap pizza from the Coop last week and did not enjoy it. I do not crave chips at all. I used to happily eat Pringles with hummous or dips of an evening, but again dont ,iss that. I do miss some lovely properly...

    Thankyou for support

Thankyou to ll the people who have supported me here or answered my questions. I have found the Freestyle Libre to be invaluable to help me with diabetes. I reported a week ago that the Libre meter showed me at over 14 mmol/litre for a day and I took that as a kick up the backside (I suspect...

Sweating - and a bit of support please

Thankyou KK123 Actually my readings DID go down the day after the Libre was attached and started. Maybe I will attach it and leave it for a few hours next time. The app has you attach and take readings after 1 hour. Maybe fo rme it needs longer to settle in.

Sweating - and a bit of support please

I got a fresh Freestyle Libre and have been over 12 mmol/litre for the last 24 hours. I am feeling a bit down as I have been following a low carb diet for several months now. I am worried there is something else wrong with me. I do drink wine, and have a habit now of waking at 1am in a sweat. I...

    Verucca treatment

Just discovered a verucca. I will be making an appointment with my GP - I know corn plasters ar a no-no for diabetics and I guess that goes for over the counter preparations with salicylic acid etc. Any advice please - making it clear I will be consulting GP.

    Blood glucose and mood/motivation

I reported to the group that at the back end of last year I felt terrible and was not working well. I got a Libre2 meter and brought my glucose levels down. I stopped using the meters. Over the last month or so I ket things slip a lot, which was confirmed a couple of weeks ago with a new meter...

Need a bit of a boost

My last HBA1C was down to 57 from 80. I stopped using Freestyle Libre monitors, partially due to the cost and partially due to going on holiday to stay in a hotel. I have tried to keep to a low carb diet. However yesterday I got a new Freesytle monitor and at the moment I am on 12.8, having not...

    Low carb starting to work

I had my checkup yesterday, and have been following a low carb diet for a few months. My HBA1C has fallen from 80 to 67, so it is working but I have a way to go. I did get a pat on the back. I was given the advice that I should be eating complex carbs with low GI because I won't have any energy...

Need a bit of a boost

I need a bit of a boost. I have been low carbing for about three months. I am feeling a bit better in myself, and my diet has improved with more vegetables and fish. However I am still waking in the night with sweats and hot feet. Also my frozen shoulders are not getting any better. I fell off...

    Waking in the early hours

I am a Type 2 and regularly wake at around 2 or 3 am. I gather this is not unusual. I need to go to the loo. What worries me though is that I am sometimes sweating when I wake, and quite often now am worrying and stressed about something in my job or my life when I wake. I don't want to make...

    Frozen Shoulder - Tips?

My GP has diagnosed that I have frozen shoulders. Fits my symptoms of painful arms and being unable to raise my arms high. Seemingly this is more common in diabetics. Anyone else got this and have any tips for me, or good exercises?
