    New doctor

I have not been referred either, only 1 month in but have had a retinol scan. Not sure that I would go anyway as I don't need to lose weight but don't want to put it on either. DN told me eat normally and take the pills so we know they are working (80mg Gliclazide once a day). I understand from...

    Testing

I will try and cut carbs a bit more, finding it difficult what to eat as a vegetarian and do not eat meat substitutes. Have not been able to get on the veggie site as it has been down.

    Testing

That explains why he doesn't want me to go low carb and to stay on the tablets. I am on 80mg a day and have cut the carbs down to 150g a day or less. After dinner it does not drop drastically, between 7-8mmol.

    Testing

Hi Bluetit1802 fortunately the driving is not an issue as I don't drive and walking everywhere is much healthier, I live in a small market town so it is wait hours for a bus or walk. Neither doctor or DN has mentioned that Gliclazide can make me go too low. Going back in three weeks for a...

    Testing

Hi, I have been to my doctors today for a prescription of gliclazide (have just finished 28 days since diagnosis) and he has told me to put my test meter away in a very safe place and forget about it. I have been testing before and after breakfast and dinner. He also said that as my levels have...

    Shell shocked!

Yes Rachox that is all prescriptions. I have received my exemption card today, it is valid for 5 years and says on the letter that the card entitles you to all of your NHS prescriptions free of charge, the only things it does not cover is NHS wigs, NHS fabric supports and NHS dental treatments...

    Hi - newly diagnosed t2

Hi Redamber, I too am a veggie (no meat, fish, seafood or substitute) from the age of 13 and am now 53 and struggling to find interesting low carb meals that are not similar, knowledge is clearly the key. Mine is mostly down to genetics - diabetes and glaucoma on my fathers side and high blood...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

    Low carb vs doctor

Ok that explains way more than the nurse did, thank you.

    Low carb vs doctor

No neither were fasting, I had been to the doctors because I had been feeling so unwell and they had said I had a sinus infection and a virus and I asked them to check my blood sugar and they said it was 22 another test they said I was 78 and it should have been under 48 but not exactly forth...

Seem a lot of carbs here ?

That does seem a lot of carbs. I am vegetarian and find it difficult what to have for dinner (don't want the same thing every night) tonight I have had roasted peppers, tomatoes, halloumi cheese and mushroom rice. Love this and it works for me.

    Low carb vs doctor

Hi, I was diagnosed three weeks ago with Type 2. My mmol was 22 and I was put on meds straight away. When I went back after a week I mentioned the low carb eating plan and my nurse said oh no eat normally so we know your meds are working. At the time that made sense as my brain was not in my...

    Nights out/lager

Hi, I have only risked one gin and tonic and that was two days ago and it was fine. Remember one evening last year on a hot summers night sitting in the garden getting deliciously drunk (pre diabetic) on g&t maybe now it will only take 3 or 4! Haha.

    Bad Day

Funny how it affects us, fine whilst at school but once home the walls came down and I crumbled with them. Well done for not giving in, that is sheer determination. I totally get what you mean about not hitting the spot!

    Bad Day

Had a 'challenging' day at school, came home really cold and kinda of stepped of the wagon - cup of coffee, two chocolate biscuits and a slice of gingerbread cake - oops! Now cooking a much healthier dinner of mushroom omelette and salad. [emoji56]

Advised to reuse lances? Is that right?

Hi NatJS my nurse told me they are once only use as they become blunt and to reduce infection.
