    Uric Acid Kidney Stone (Not!)

A bit off topic but I had a male cat with stones and no it wasn't nice for him, rather like dynarod. Unfortunately we just couldn't stop them from happening and I had to make the choice to have him pts.

Prof Roy Taylor hypothesis - DIRECT study & pancreatic fat

At my practice there is me and another. But I did it against the advice I was given by my dn. I think though that her way would have been kinder for me to follow. Ie being on meds and eating 'normally'.

    Uric Acid Kidney Stone (Not!)

Oh I was hoping that it wasn't caused by your diet choice. How unfair.

What does being in remission mean.

I often read about 'being in remission' or having reversed their diabetes. It appears to me that it's a bit like finding the holy grail this striving to be in remission. What I'd like to know is why is it so important to forum members to be 'in remission'. What benefits are people hoping to...

@lucylocket61 you have just made me smile which considering how I feel at the moment is a minor miracle. Thanks:)

    In the news.

I stand corrected. It is only much less likely. However, after more than 10 years of diabetes a return to normal glucose control, even with major weight loss, is much less likely.

    In the news.

BUT there is a time limit isn't there. People who have had T2 for 10 years or more aren't going to go into remission because too much damage has been done. As most people don't know how long they've been T2 then the sooner they start to do something the better.. Maybe.........

I need some advice re low carb high fat diet please.

If I have a weight loss stall then I fast for 36-48 hours. BUT as we all know that isn't for everyone. If I didn't feel like fasting or it wasn't convenient for me to do it then I'd cut back on the fat that I eat.

    In the news.

I would think that anyone who has recently tried the ND way of managing T2 or who is thinking of doing so will be very heartened by yesterday's news and so they should be. It's not the way that I would chose but at the end of the day it will be for some others. Yes the discussion did get a bit...

saw this on the DUK website - breakthrough in type 2 treatment

I agree this concerns me as well. I really hope that the people for whom this has worked maintain it. There is so much blame and shame attached to having a T2 diagnosis.

saw this on the DUK website - breakthrough in type 2 treatment

BUT the bad news is that the bad dietary advice is going to continue i.e. thou shalt eat carbs. Which for many people will be very, very difficult to do in moderation due to carb cravings and carb addiction. So they will eat 'normally' and they will put on weight and they will be blamed for...
