Had a Bit of a Bad Time

They were worried that there would have been some bleeding from my brain into the fluid that surrounds it. The CT scan was clear of this, but then if it was a small bleed it would not have been picked up by the CT scan. Do you think that the hospital would have sent my results to my GP? They...

    Recently detected with Diabetes.

Hello - welcome to the forum. When I was diagnosed, it was a couple of weeks before they could tell me which type I was. Additional tests had to be done on my blood samples. Work with your doctor/clinic and they will keep you right. At the end for me, we knew I was type two before the results...

Had a Bit of a Bad Time

Normally, I come home from work to change and go to the gym. Last Thursday I felt really tired after work, lay down and slept for an hour. That night, I went to go to bed in the evening and got a thunderclap headache while I was getting ready. This was accompanied by blurred vision and nausia...

    paying for dentist treatment

I asked the same question when I was first diagnosed. I was pleased to get free prescriptions, then they made them free for everyone. Meh.

    flu jab

I don't get any ill effects from it. A wee bit tiredness maybe, which I just push through and carry on as normal. It is not a live vaccine, so should not actually make you ill. The time of year when people are getting the jab is also the same time of year when a lot of people get ill... it is...

    Egg Whites

Yeah... I'm sure the concensus a few years back was that although they contain a lot of cholesterol, they don't actually raise it.

Moving from USA to UK...what to expect from NHS

I think that it depends where in the UK you will be. In Scotland, the NHS is devolved, meaning all running and decisions come from the Scottish Parliament, so any rules will be different, depending where you are moving too.

    Strategies for Christmas

A couple of wee diabetic friendly treats that I think I'll get in instead of the Quality Street: Extra special coffee. Go out to find the nicest, most expensive coffee (be it instant, filter, beans; whatever you buy normally) you fancy. A great selection of mixed nuts. All the supermarkets...

    Just been to the dentist

Yeah, I believe the cost of even NHS treatment south of the border can become quite expensive. I was £23.64 for a scale and polish and a filling the other day. In England it's £47 just for a filling I believe.

    Neuropathy 60 - 70 %

Don't why I found this post hilarious. A combination between the crazy username, the wacky way of spelling linky and worky and the mad eyes :D

    Just been to the dentist

Yeah, it's probably a very good choice to make. My problem with the scheme was the cost of getting my teeth to a state where they would actually take me on. I get 6 monthly checkups, so one less per year than you do. The last one I had I got X-rays. They charged me £3 for them too... the cheek...

    Just been to the dentist

Yeah, but these schemes are too expensive when compared to the NHS costs up here. My checkups and work this past few year have averaged about £50 per year.

Half an hour? You're lucky. I felt like I had Jenson Button's garage team in my mouth. OpendrillscrapespitGO!

Exercise Classes (Spinning, Zumba, Les Mills, etc)

Is there anyone here into exercise classes? I joined a gym in February and very quickly got bored with running on a treadmill, so thought I'd try this Spinning class that I had heard so much about. Wow - I almost died! lol... 45 minutes of hell followed by 15 minutes of abs. On looking around...
