    Fear Of Hypoglycemia

Is it the thought of the possibility of hypo or fear of being in that range.....? For me hypos can come along 2, maybe 3 times a week......but they are down to small inaccuracies in dose or a unexpected increase in physical activity.....so I know that my levels wont continue to go to dangerous...

Stopping Type 1 Diabetes From Birth

Interesting.... I will confirm I don't visit the news section often, if at all...... so its being suggested that the immune response is happening due to damaged insulin molecules as well as damaged beta cells...? so I should really be changing my response to reflect the immune systems dislike...

    Nice Freestyle Libre Guidelines

for Scotland anyway the general criteria is: type one on MDI or pump, testing 8 or more times a day and type one on MDI or pump who are unaware of hypos...... but each board is different in that some of prescribing away and others are rolling out small, select groups....

    Pump Users And Shift Work....

Everyone is different.............I certainly wouldn't go in to shift work assuming there would be any significant changes to basal rates..... however, as with anything else, you just need to keep testing and adjusting to compensate....

Stopping Type 1 Diabetes From Birth

pretty sure its the beta cell that the immune system doesn't like.....the insulin is fine....;)

    Why Do Hypos Happen

There will likely be a glucagon response from the alpha cells of the pancreas at some point as well.....this triggers the liver to release some of its energy stores so as to increase the glucose levels in the blood stream....... for diabetics though, especially long term ones, that response may...

    Going Low

Its hard when you are newly diagnosed because of the honeymoon effect.......but ultimately it is the insulin that is responsible for the lows...... the basal is the Levemir, yeah, so you could try removing that and see what happens......the only other option is to find something that you can...

    Going Low

If you're on insulin then the only reason it can be is the insulin.... you may need to stop the insulin, like try taking the basal away.....I assume that's the 1 unit.... what levels of low are you seeing off your meter...

    Pump When Flying

I haven't read all the articles but my personal experience has been that no extra insulin has been delivered.... the tubing and reservoir is essentially its own wee vacuum and so I wouldn't expect to see much effect from any outside pressure variations....

    Hba1c For Ivf

I think lower carb would be the first thing to do and then you can introduce smaller amounts as time goes by..... test more, so every meal and in between every meal, review your basal and insulin/carb ratios regularly [every few weeks], employ dose timing tactics to keep spike down..... best...

Accu-check Says Hi- Should I Be Worried?

Good your back down......... I treat a HI like any blood sugar result.......if its not in the target range, give insulin to get it there......obviously a HI is above 33 or thereabouts, so a simple calculation and off you go..... Understandably a shock having never seen it before.....
