    Nervous about eating fat

I think that it's been seen as "bad" and calorific and will cause high cholesterol for so many years. I have read so much about lchf in the last few weeks that I'm not worried about it harming me it's just difficult to change a habit of a lifetime.

What do I call my diabetes

I had gallstones and pancreatitis in 2009 and was in hospital for 9 days. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 5 years ago. I don't think my doctor would have put 2 and 2 together and considered any other diagnoses than T2.

    Nervous about eating fat

I have been doing the lchf diet for about 4 weeks now and my bs has come down from between 7 and 9 (sometimes a lot higher ) to anything between 4.6 and 6 which I'm really pleased about. Plus I have reduced my insulin from 60 units twice a day to 25 twice a day. I'm struggling with eating high...

Muscle and joint aches all over

Statins do cause muscle pain, and friend of mine ended up in hospital because she couldn't even get out of bed because she was in so much pain. Pain in the upper arms and shoulders could be polymyalgia.

Muscle and joint aches all over

I have fibromyalgia and a lot of your symptoms sound like they could be fibromyalgia. A rhumatologist can diagnose it by touching certain points on your body. I would definitely mention it to the rhumy when you see them.

    Different GP's and different opinions....

Thanks for the reply Ringo. Although I have been diabetic for around 5 years it is only now having read the blood sugar diet that I'm finally being proactive. I naively followed the advice that the doctor and dn told me. That it was a progressive condition and I couldn't do anything to change...

    Fatty Liver

:bigtears::banghead: I was told the same Ann. I was on steroids and insulin when I joined a well known slimming club. My dn said I was wasting my time even trying to lose weight and sure enough I didn't! I'm not on steroids any more and have lost about a stone doing lchf. I think the problem...

    Watermelon

My husband decided to have some cheese and crackers for his supper and although I know that I can have the cheese I can't have the crackers! I didn't want to eat cheese on its own because I need to lose weight. I decided to have some watermelon instead. I had quite a lot and worried about my...

    Advice desperately needed

I was prescribed insulin to bring my numbers down and even on the maximum dose it was still high so I was prescribed dulaglutide (trulicity ) which finally brought them down to a reasonable level. I rang my dn at the beginning of this month to ask her advice but she was only interested in my...

    Advice desperately needed

Thanks for your replies. I find that a bowl of porridge will see me through till dinner. Is it okay to go 7 hours or so without food? I used to be a health care assistant in a hospital and remember that the diabetics always got a digestive biscuit in the afternoon and before bed!

Advice, high breakfast blood glucose readings which used to be low

I thought that a rise of 2mmol two hours after eating was okay? My bs before breakfast is around 5 after eating porridge it goes up to 7. Is this not good?

    Advice desperately needed

I forgot to mention in my post that I used to take 60 units of insulin twice a day and 2x 500 metformin twice a day. I am still taking the metformin but have gradually reduced the insulin to 30 units twice a day. I don't think my dn will be happy that I've taken this on myself. She advocates...

    Advice desperately needed

I have been doing the lchf diet for about 3 weeks and I'm not sure what to do with the low blood sugar readings I'm getting before bed. Usually around 4.1. I'm still having porridge for breakfast 5.4 before breakfast 7.4 two hours later so I'm sticking with that. I tend to eat it around 10ish...

    Type 2 Steroid induced

I was prescribed prednisolone a few years ago and went from being perfectly well controlled with metformin to having to inject 60 units of insulin twice a day. Even that wasn't enough so added glyclazide, still not enough so dropped the glyclazide and added trulicity injection once a week...

Bariatric Surgery for T2's - Gastric Bypass

I was warned that a fast weight loss can cause gallstones and sure enough I had to have my gallbladder out. It is a really painful condition and the surgery isn't a picnic either. I had a lot of stones which then caused pancreatitis. I wish I'd never had the gastric band which has caused on...

Bariatric Surgery for T2's - Gastric Bypass

I know exactly how you feel although I'm not in such a bad situation with so many foods. I had porridge this morning and because we were going for dinner with my son and his girlfriend at 7.30 tonight I decided to have some chicken breast and cherry tomatoes at about 2.30. Within minutes I was...
