    Drinks out with a curry

I cut the fizzy drinks out completely due to the artificial sweeteners, I never drank full fat coke, and being almost teetotal my usual drink at a pub was Diet Coke. In the last few weeks I have had coffee whilst eating out.

    Drinks out with a curry

Hi I’m currently eating between 75 and 100g of carbs a day, on Saturday I’m going out with the guys from work for a meal, originally it was a curry and then drinks, now it seems to have changed to drinks then possibly a curry if they get round to it [emoji12]. I’m not a drinker anyway, but what...

    Type 2 LCHF and conventions

I think having a few back up supplies for an emergency would be a good idea just to reassure you in case you struggle to find what you want. I used to suffer with anxiety attack’s and I know how some back up plan/preparing can make an experience better.

T2 newly diagnosed? Don't worry, don't panic. We got you....

Great post, thanks IronLioness, I’m a few months behind you but totally agree with everything you say, 1 thing I would definitely say is to prioritise yourself at work. For years I have wolfed food down at 11 am tea break so I could work through lunch, now after reducing carbs, I take my morning...

Realised there’s nothing I enjoy eating..

Well I have cooked more in the last month than I have in the previous twenty years. I’m not good, nothing I cook takes more than 7 minutes but it’s tasty and I like it. Why not think of the food you used to enjoy and adapt it for your diet? Also try using big flavours to kickstart your...

Misdiagnosis? type 2 levels what's going on

I eat around 25 g of carbs a meal, anymore than that and my readings go out of my targets. I think I have realised that for my long term health 99.9% of the time I have to be good. But for me, I can have a treat if it’s scaled down to reduce the carb intake as much as possible. I’m not on meds...

    I've lost the will..

I lost 25 kilos a few years ago, just trying to get fit ( before Diabetes) and even though I was just on a diet, my sense of taste went completely, things I craved before the diet were a complete turn off. I went to spicier foods which gave a real kick, even if it was a sauce to add to a normal...

    Lowering carbs, aims and results

Hi, T2 for a month, and trying to improve by reducing carbs and exercise. Over the last fortnight of testing I can see a pattern emerging that if I have any more than 50 g of carbs in a meal my bs at 2 hours is 3.5 to 4 higher than starting reading (5.5 to 6). If it’s around 25 g then the...

The feelings you have had are the same ones that crop up again and again on the forum, I’m only diagnosed a month and completely understand your feelings. Keep reading as many posts as you can here. It’s a fantastic forum full of experienced diabetics and full of great advice. The more you...

    I don’t understand

Hi Richard, I would suggest (as a newbie reducing my carbs) that you look at the labels on everything that goes into your shopping basket. Keep food diaries, and reduce your carbs each week. It’s easy with a little effort and choices to come down to 100g a day. Stay full up and lose weight. I...

What is a bad spike for you, personally?

Ponchu it was down to 6.2, normal has been 5.5 to 5.8. I think the groggy feeling could be a sign for me to look out for. Only my second week of testing so gathering as much info as possible regarding figures, what effects them and any effects I may be able to recognise without a meter

What is a bad spike for you, personally?

I had my first completely blind day, where I couldn’t find the details of the meal I had in a TGIF, I went for a salad and duck, with a side of chicken strips. Never eating there before I didn’t realise the salad would have a sticky dressing and the strips were coated with something or other...
