Boyfriend throwing up so I had to leave

You did the right thing - apart from anything else a week in hospital costs the nhs and if this can be avoided do. There is very little you can do for an adult with a bug, best get out of the way.

    Dawn Phenomenon

Can anyone tell me How long does the dp keep going? I have been fairly low carbing for nearly 6 months now but still have really high morning readings. Eg last night went to bed an ok 6 this morning 9.5. I feel it's lucky if still in single figures.

Type 1: Flu after flu jab

I had flu once, when I was in my twenties and fit. The only time I got out of bed for a week was to crawl on all fours to the bathroom. As I mentioned on here before my Nan died of flu. I always have the jab - but it doesn't stop me getting a cold!

    GP surgery not happy

At least you weren't put straight on medication and have got the chance to get your levels down through diet and exercise. No advice is better than the wrong advice! At least you can then do your own research and take control yourself from the beginning. Sounds like you've made a very good start.

In What Way Does Stopping Metformin & Glixozade affect HBA1C

I have been on lchf diet for over 4 months now, have reduced meds. Normally have about 50g carbs a day but still need 2x gliclazide and 2x metformin to keep bs level lowish (last Hba1c 42). Have a fit bit and do min of 10,000 steps a day, normally quite a bit more and yoga and aqua aerobics once...

In What Way Does Stopping Metformin & Glixozade affect HBA1C

My BS is always highest in the morning, due to dawn phenomenon I've been told. If you have changed your diet you will have to at least reduce meds, particularly gliclazide, or you would get hypos. If you've stopped meds and BS 5-7 that's great! Well done.

    Type 1: Flu jabs?

Never had side effects, just slightly sore arm for a couple of days. I always get the jab, my Nan died when she had flu.

Type 2 How often to change lancet?

I have a multi clix one and turn for new needle every time, then throw away when all 6 used. I thought that was what you were meant to do. No wonder I get through a lot!

    Smoking or non smoking

I shall buy that book for my hubby. I don't suppose he'll read it, but worth a try. He's overweight, already had one heart attack and still smokes. It's heartbreaking and worrying that he still smokes well done to anyone who gives up.

Just Back From My Appointment With My Endocrinologist - Confusion

I've never been overweight and now follow lchf. Not on insulin, on metformin and gliclazide which I have halved in recent months.

how long the switch from tablets to insulin?

I believe insulin is inevitable if you follow the doctors orders! My meds steadily increased over 9 years and next step would have been insulin. Decided to go low carb even though the doctor never mentioned it and have halved my meds and best blood results ever. I intend to continue with my diet...

New to forum but not new to T2

Hello Spen Welcome to the forum - you're in the right place. I also have diverticular and on Statins for high cholesterol. Have been low carbing for a while now , I eat plenty of veg and salads and don't seem to have a problem. My DN and doctors weren't very supportive so had to go it alone...

    Type 2 Stopping Medication

I have halved my meds without speaking to doctor first as I changed diet and kept having hypos. I did suggest to DN that I was thinking of trying low carbs but she wasn't really interested. Group practice and seem to see a different doc every time I go but they've all only put my meds up without...

Stress, the cause of type 1

A friend, now 80, had an accident at 15 when she was hit by a motorbike. Not badly hurt but seemed to quite suddenly bring on type1. I was going through a very traumatic emotional time just before being diagnosed type2, not overweight, not ill and t2 not in close family.
