    Should I be self monitoring?

Whoa! Woke up this morning to all these kind words. Thank you so much. I’m about to set out on my daily power walk and you can be sure that I shall be marching along to the sound of Magic Radio with your comments ringing in my ears and with that extra spring in my step. [emoji4]. Over the past...

    Should I be self monitoring?

BTW, to be fair to my GP (who I’ve been with for around 15 years), he’s generally been very helpful and seen me through some tough situations. Therefore all the more astonished at his reaction this time around. Must be some kind of blind spot.

    Should I be self monitoring?

Thank you guys. Your feedback is reassuring. It’s good to know I’m not some oddball hypochondriac.

    Should I be self monitoring?

Just saw the nurse at my surgery the other day for my six month checkup. My HbA1C has come down from 51 when I was first diagnosed T2 last December to 38 this past October. I explained that I’ve achieved this solely by means of daily exercise, a strict LCHF diet and self monitoring (4-6 times...

    WHAT FRUITS CAN I HAVE

It’s not cream, it’s yoghurt! [emoji4]. My daughter loathes cream but is happy with yoghurt. The M&S brand I use is very thick and creamy in texture. It has a mild tangy bite to it. If you’re in the UK go ahead and buy the small 200 gram tub. Hope this helps. John

    Walking

Ha ha. You made my morning. Couldn’t stop laughing. Are you a standup comedian? Brilliant stuff. And I mean it! [emoji4][emoji122][emoji122] Still, sorry to disappoint you. I’m on my way to the office. But before I settle down to my daily chores, I put down my brief case and head out for my...

    WHAT FRUITS CAN I HAVE

@DEBAND, if you live in the UK, then Marks & Spencer’s authentic 10% Greek yoghurt is my absolute favourite They’re right. Avoid fruit except berries. I like my yoghurt with a small handful of blueberries. Good luck and may the force be with you. [emoji4]

    A1C

Hi @DCUKMod, yes I believe I am. Fat (fish, chicken, nuts, full fat yoghurt, avocado) is by far the biggest part of my diet, with protein coming second. Excuse my ignorance but what is the significance of creatinine and GFR? (Being lazy here. You could go tell me to go look it up!) Is my...

    A1C

@Guzzler (one of my go-to people [emoji106]). Results in. A1C = 38! So in remission [emoji4][emoji122][emoji123]. Have come down from 51 last December. No meds. LCHF diet ( lost 16kg). Exercise too. 3 mile power walks every morning and 3-4 workouts per week. Cholesterol = LDL is down and HDL...

Guys Just went to have my A1C tested and totally forgot that it’s a fasting test. Had a breakfast of full fat Greek yoghurt +flax seeds. Will I need to retest?

Anyone Heard Of One Drop’s Chrome Monitor

Of course @Tipetoo. I’m being a knucklehead not to have noticed that! [emoji4].

Anyone Heard Of One Drop’s Chrome Monitor

Unfortunately @Tipetoo, over here in the UK we don’t have anything likethe NDSS. BTW, would I be correct in assuming that you’re either T1, or T2 on insulin?

Anyone Heard Of One Drop’s Chrome Monitor

@2000s, are you sure about this? A couple of weeks ago I attended one of these NHS-organised daylong diabetes education workshops. The guy leading the workshop explained that as a general rule they don’t prescribe strips to T2s who’re not on medication (my case). I replied that that is very...

Anyone Heard Of One Drop’s Chrome Monitor

@alphabeta, I totally agree. I’ve been using Ascensia’s Contour Next ONE meter since I was diagnosed T2 last January. Very happy with it, but if you’re testing 6+ times a day then that adds up. And £44.95/month for unlimited supply of test strips — well, that’s kind of enticing. About half of...

Anyone Heard Of One Drop’s Chrome Monitor

Just came across this by reading about Apple’s Health app. It appears to be a app-based diabetes management solution. Their store has this offer: They also offer for-a-fee support Any feedback would be greatly appreciated John

@kitedoc. Brilliant! Thank you! And your aphorism about the nature of optimism: that’s a keeper.

    Gradual Rise In Bg

@Mal37, @Bluetit1802, @bulkbiker, and Pem51. Thanks guys. Your advice has had results and this is the promised update. Since my original post on June 26, I’ve cut out breakfast. This means that, generally I do not eat past 9pm and fast until around 1-2pm the following day. In addition, I’ve...
