    epidural

It is possible he will want to put you on an insulin drip and if you take your own too it would make it difficult for him (or his junior!) to titrate glucose accordingly.

    Apps

I use my iPad and Diabetes Buddy. It is from the USA so the carb counting isn't great but it does the few things I really want. I was also able to try it for free to see if it suited.

Hello Folks struggling a bit on the site!!!

Hello Pursang. You'll get the hang of the site too I'm sure. I don't think anyone will mind if you cross into the 'wrong' forum or thread. I've had to ask twice for my stuff to be moved! We all 'cut into conversations' because that is just the nature of a forum. Have a look at the 'forum...

    Pesky dawn phenomenon

Ah, but my forum addiction has led to me neglecting my Facebook addiction.

    best zero carb snacks

I eat nuts. Slowly. Just a few at a time. Or some ripe Brie/Cambozola. Or a drink of water like @Bluetit1802. Occasionally a handful of salad leaves works (it might seem a bit weird!)

    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

I have just had a BG result below 5! I'm on very low carbs - usually below 30g daily, always below 50g, and have been so for about 4 weeks. Before this my results were always about 7.5 to 10+ and sometimes 13+ after breakfast. I had given up. Then I got a cataract and it was an excellent...

    Worst guilty food secret

I already make that one, minus the sweetener, but it lacks the lovely crunchy biscuit cone. I need crunch with my slush. I've thought of adding nuts.

    Pesky dawn phenomenon

If you design a study (without celery or flaxseeds please!) then I could try it. I'm off work following my cataract op so currently asleep after 12 and up again 6am (although may go back if I was up 'til 2am like yesterday). However, my waking BG has been only about 5.3 now for a week or so...

    Differing amounts of blood???

Perhaps it also depends how close you are stabbing to a capillary. There will be ordinary flesh between them so you might just nick one rather than putting a big hole in.

Flaxseed and Diabetes, anyone is using them ?

Yes I thought it might be something yo do with the age of the seeds, but then I remembered I really don't like Burgen bread either.

Flaxseed and Diabetes, anyone is using them ?

They leave a persistent horrible taste for me. I wonder if genetics play a part like it does in some children's perception of greens being bitter?

    Worst guilty food secret

Does no-one else fancy ice cream in a lovely crunchy biscuit cone? I've managed not to really crave since going LCHF, at least not yet, but when the dratted ice-cream van goes past the door I have a little wistful pang. Bizarrely, never even having seen one yet alone tasting it, I dreamt I...

    LCHF diet and taking Simvastatin

I've just stopped my statins (thinks - 'must tell GP'). My hair has got very thin and I'm wondering if they are linked. I thought I'd try to persuade the surgery to do a full lipid profile to check that the LCHF was OK despite my stopping the statins. That would be the best test if you decided...

I reckon beer jelly might actually be possible. Vodka jelly is after all.

4th week of lchf and not losing weight :(

I wonder if the hype around low carb raises our expectations a bit. I too started in order to regulate my BGs but looked at weight too because a decrease would have been a lovely bonus. I'm in week 4 and have suddenly shifted 4lbs in a few days (increased fibre may have helped ...). I've also...

    Question about carbs in yoghurt

I've Googled and found this 'The exact carbohydrate count of yogurt is debatable. Some health experts, such as Jack M. Goldberg, Ph.D., and Dr. Karen O'Mara claim that the carb content of yogurt is actually lower than stated on the container. This is due to the live bacteria cultures that are...
