    DAFNE

My control has not been the best but it is slowly getting better the last 3 months or so. That sounds great, how long did the course last for? A pump is something a diabetic nurse has mentioned but explained funding is a bit complicated with lots of people wanting them. Hopefully I can get one soon.

Hi, So I have been put forward to go on a DAFNE course in a few months time, after 9 years of having no sort of help from any specialists or even doctors. I was just wondering if many other people have been on it? And what should I expect to achieve from it? Was it beneficial? Any help is...

Something i want to share with you guys

It takes a lot of guts to own up to what you have done! Many times in my life, even before having diabetes, I have felt in a position where it wouldn't matter if I was alive or not! My thought process every time this happened was "I was placed on this earth to make a change, my goal In life is...

    Type 1 Endocrinology

So, I have been type 1 since 2009 and recently changed doctors. My new doctor is really surprised that I haven't ever been referred to any specialists or had any complications because of my diabetes. ( basically neglected by my previous doctor) So my new doctor has referred me to "ENDOCRINOLOGY"...

    Diabetes and the Armed Forces

Yes I was given compensation and a pension because of my time served. I'm not sure how they work it all out but I was told when asked 'how long was I expecting to stay in the army for' to say as long as possible to show that you wasn't intending to leave anywhere otherwise they will just offer...

    Introduction

Hi, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes after returning home from a gruelling tour of Afghanistan in December 2009. I was a guardsmen serving with the Welsh guards from end of 2007 to 2012, when I was medically discharged because of my diabetes. Because of the heat and constant dehydration of...

    Diabetes and the Armed Forces

Hi Steve, I was in the Welsh guards for 5 years. I found out I was diabetic 2 years after finishing training. Unfortunately I was told I was to be medical discharged but this took a further 3 years to happen. This was mainly due to them trying to find suitable roles to put me into, but was also...
