    Baking with Almond flour

I’d be interested in your thoughts on baking with almond flour. I tried it and found the texture and flavour unpalatable☹️

    Socks!

Hi all. So along with prediabetes came peripheral neuropathy. I’m looking for socks that work in keeping my feet warm and helping to keep them healthy. It’s a nightmare when you look on line so I’m wondering if anyone can recommend any that work? As ever help and advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Monitor accuracy

Hi . So I have got myself a TEE2 + monitor. Very new to this so please bear with! How do I know if it’s accurate? Are there kits to prove it? The reason I ask is that my recent Hba... test put me at 39, a slight rise since my low of 36 last year. I’ve put this down to a lockdown weight rise...

    Coffee and ??

I find the most difficult part of a low carb attempt, is my morning coffee. Not the coffee! But having or not having a biscuit or similar with it. I was shocked to find that the tiny Lotus coffee biscuit I was having, has nearly 6 carbs in. Two in a pack, so....... So I’ve just taken out of the...

    Breakfast ( for pre diabetic)

Hi all. So due to rising weight I’m back on the low carb route. A week in and already the signs are good on the scales. However, I find that breakfast is the most difficult time to deal with. A week of omelette, scrambled, boiled eggs has left me hating the sight of an egg! The alternative for...

    A decent meter?

Hi, have decided to purchase a meter to help track blood sugar etc. It seems a minefield online trying to find consistent reviews. Can you recommend a good one obtainable here in the UK? Not overly expensive either! Thanks.

    Oh Dear!

So, I have a hill to climb! It’s been soooo difficult over this holiday to maintain my low carb regime and I know a few pounds have crept back on. Family, friends and visitors have served to upset my routine. How do others manage? Brian

    Result!

So this week I had a check on my HbA1c. In April I was told I was pre diabetic at 42. With loads of encouragement from this forum I ignored the diet recommended by the DN and embarked on a low or non carb regime. Me weight fell off and I went from 16 stone 10 lbs down to 15 stone. This weeks...

    Peripheral Neuropathy

hi, I’ve been told the lack of sensation in my feet is due to peripheral neuropathy, however it’s not due to my Pre diabeties but rather a vitamin B12 deficiency. As such I’ve been told it’s non recoverable. Has anyone had this issue and if so found anything that has helped? Thanks. B.

    Treats!

hi, has anyone tried Mattessons Fridge Raiders. They seem really low carb with high protein. Wondering if they would do for an occasional nibble. Thanks.

    Low carb

Hi all. Well, into a second week of low carbs. Yogurt and blue berries for breakfast. Not automatically heading for the bread bin. Can’t say the taste of yogurt does much for me. I was using low fat with honey before! Well, by ten thirty I felt quite shaky and so along with a skinny flat white...

    Testing

Hi all. Thanks for replies to my previous post. I notice that some members seem to be able to test their progress re prediabetic Hba. The diabetic nurse advised against getting a blood sugar monitor. I was told that they only check this reading annually. Is there a way to monitor your progress...

    Hi.

Hi, glad to find a forum where you can receive information and encouragement! I’m 70 and have just been told that I’m pre-diabetic. My score was 41 so rather a shot across the bows to hopefully jolt me into the right actions to remedy the situation. I was slightly surprised but due to a hip...
