    FROM LRW60

Hi all, I used to post here as lrw60. Then I fell out with the new look forum. I have now decided to post an update concerning my friend Lorna who some of you may remember me mentioning. Just over a year ago Lorna took her grade 8 oboe exam and passed with a distinction. A few weeks ago she took...

    YUK!

:yuck: I don't like this new format at all. It is messy and un-friendy. Where do I find my old posts? I will log back on in a few weeks time and if I still find it as it is now I don't think I will log on again. Bad, Bad move. Lee.

Artificial sweetner may have affected my joints.

The joints in question being my neck and right shoulder. Last year I realised that I couldn't tilt my neck back as far as I used to. I then discovered that I couldn't reach as high with my right arm as I could with my left. I put all this down to my arthritis, old age and having worked as a...

Which internet browser would you recommend

It's that simple. I need to upgrade my browser from Internet Explorer 8 to something else. Have you done this and what were the results?

    Was I born left handed?

I know it sounds like a silly question, but I could have been born left handed and There is no one left alive who would have known it for sure. Let me explain. When I was about 5 or 6 I had a firework, a Roman candle I think, explode in my hand. It burnt my hand rather badly and I couldn't use...

    Rubber gloves?

A woman is in a dentists chair, she is very nervous and the dentist tells her a little joke to put her at her ease. Do you know how these rubber gloves are made? he says, showing her the latex gloves in his hand. She looks at him and the gloves and replies, no. Well, he said, there is a large...

    Well done Giverny, (and others?)

The speed this site is running at seems to be just fine. I have had many problems recently and have even cancelled my actions and logged off because of the time things were taking. Well done to you and whoever helps you.

Lorna's cat didn't win the Guardian crossword.

I have been helping my friend Lorna do the Guardian prize crossword for a few years now. I had never done a cryptic crossword before, I prefer sudoku. Two or three years ago we won the prize crossword in Lorna's name. Several weeks back Lorna put my name on the entry and I won! More recently we...

Ex type2 resuming testing. Best place for strips?

I don't want to use the tax avoiders until we start getting some of our money back! So not amazon  etc. Rant over. I am going to resume testing after many years of being told I don't need to, this site has convinced me that I do. I will try my practice for strips, but I don't hold out...

    Clogs. Or something similar.

Does anyone know about wooden soled shoes (clogs?) with a leather upper? I think not having a flexible shoe might help me walk easier. I also feel that now I am a lot older I could get away with wearing socks with sandles. (Bit of a wuss in my old age). Can I get clog sandles? Will I become even...

    Refund from water company.

After getting a big water bill 3 or 4 months ago I decided to have a water meter fitted. This was done several weeks ago and I got my first metered bill last week. It said I was £325 in credit, and that was after they had deducted what I owed them for the water I had used. A friend said I should...

Think you can do sums? work this out.

Three students sharing digs decide to buy a television. They go down to the local tv sales shop and look at tv's. With a budget of £30 (£10 each chipped in). They find a tv at that price and take it home with them. Now, a bit later that day the manager of the shop realizes that the students have...

Cars, and other forms of transport, are pets too!

I have caught a glimpse of other peoples cars on this site, so I thought I would start a thread for forms of transport. Apart from my everyday car or in the past, van, I also own a 1930 Austin Seven Special. Special just meaning it is no longer standard and has been modified, including a home...

Bring back Classic FM TV... I miss it so.

Did you ever watch the Classic FM TV music channel? I did, all the time. I was going through a bad patch for quite a while and this music channel and, I am sorry to say, a fair bit of alchohol, helped me through. Plus I just liked the eclectic range of music. I hope I have used the word...

    Still diabetes free.

I had a fasting blood test last Friday and had a phone message from my db nurse yesterday. All she said was 'we don't need to see you again for 6 months'. I had to take a urine sample in today and I saw my nurse chatting to a colegue. I asked if everything was ok with my test and she said yes it...

Most wine has egg in it. Most, not all.

Yes it is true. I discovered this a few months back when I glanced at the label on a bottle of rose from Aldi. I never expected wine to contain egg, I don't eat eggs as I am a (almost) vegan. I do drink milk, but I don't eat eggs. It's a long story! Anyway, I typed this bit of info into google...

    fruit crumble failure, why?

I have tried to make a fruit crumble twice now and it hasn't worked. I tried using soya flour and ground almond as the mix with butter to create the crumble, but it was too dry and the whole thing had no real body. My second attempt at a crumble was a bit better than the first, but only just...
