Discussion Are fats the direct cause of insulin resistance?

Yes, I've even heard of reports of people losing pancreatic fat and increasing insulin production/output by it. I'm getting more upset about doctors in this day and age. I've NEVER heard a doctor say that someone can prevent T2D with exercise by making it so they don't need to use insulin. I've...

How does exercise affect your BS?

So I was talking with an old friend from school, a type 1. Gave him a little info that I found after my BS went crazy and decided to try to look something up... I think I figured something out... I've heard of insulin being like... nicotine, or alcohol, having a little when you haven't in a...

    Exercise before or after eating

This is very helpful... I've gone hyperactive/resistive because of steroids, and am wanting to do whatever to help make sure it doesn't stay like this so i can snack on foods again... I have a bad liver and am thinking it's having issues, so maybe getting it to start dumping glucose would be...

What does happen to non diabetics blood sugar, what should we be aiming for?

Harpar you make me wonder... maybe the fact that we're taking our thyroid meds at one time is messing stuff up... we're essentially dumping TONS of hormones it at ONE time, then letting it slowly go down... Imagine if we tried to do that for insulin in diabetics! I'll talk with my doc about it...

Discussion Are fats the direct cause of insulin resistance?

I meant body fat but this is still very relative to the subject. Donnelly, it appears you may have redistributed the fat content in your body! The article I linked talks about lean people like you and me having more inter-muscle fat. Sounds like you got rid of that and made a fat deposit just...

Has anyone tried to control their BS with stuff they found in studies?

I've never heard of it. I'm completely new to this whole blood sugar thing... it's still freaking me out, and weather or not I'll have it for ever or I'll be "normal" is still up in the air.

What does happen to non diabetics blood sugar, what should we be aiming for?

Well I wasn't told to do anything about my diet for UC and hashimotos... was just told to limit my fats and salts for my PSC. and idk if the steroids are still affecting me or not :(... really hoping they are and that this isn't permanent... :arghh: I have bouts of hope and despair, feeling...

What does happen to non diabetics blood sugar, what should we be aiming for?

Well... That all has to do with the types of carbs, if there are fats and proteins, and I've read a few things involving... I think they called it gastric dumping? Basically when the stomach decided to dump it's contents into the small intestine. Some carbs can pass through the stomach lining...

What does happen to non diabetics blood sugar, what should we be aiming for?

If your spikes peak is before an hour then test around that time to see where that spike goes. And your weight matters for three reasons. 1) Blood mass: The more blood you have the more sugar it will take to get your blood sugar to the same level as someone with less blood mass. 2)Muscle mass...

What does happen to non diabetics blood sugar, what should we be aiming for?

That's exactly what I've been looking for =D Thank you so much! I have been freaking out SO much over what's been going on with me. With my breakfast and this data is looks like the steroids didn't mess with my cells or anything! ... but I do believe now that both of my parents have diabetic...

What does happen to non diabetics blood sugar, what should we be aiming for?

http://www.jhsph.edu/news/news-releases/2005/selvin-bloodsugar.html Johns Hopkins hospital talking about the effects of high blood sugar in diabetics and non-diabetics... Why would they say that if "normal" people can't get spikes or go above the "120" normal... "The researchers found that...

What does happen to non diabetics blood sugar, what should we be aiming for?

Still trying to figure out if non diabetics get spikes after eating and how high they can get... I would assume anyone can get a spike if they eat too many carbs too quickly for their cells to be able to react to... I have found people supporting both sides, but not much from the scientific...

    BG todays breakfast...

Yes that is a typo! I shall edit the post and correct it. Though my brother and I have indeed had a few hypo incidences in the past, I have had few, he says he's had quite a few... my lowest since I got off the steroids on the 22 last month was... I believe 67mg/dl or about 3.72mmol/l. The...

    BG todays breakfast...

Not sure if it's the steroids affecting me still or not, so I decided to pump carbs into my stomach again... probably around 55-60 in multigrain cheerios and 10 from the milk. Last weight measurment gave about 103lbs/46.7kg, 5 foot 5 inches/1.65 meters. BMI = 18.8 before:103mg/dl, 5.72 1...

Has anyone tried to control their BS with stuff they found in studies?

So far I think I've found that if I don't want a major spike around the 1 hour mark, I need to stick to 20g of carbs or less... but I will have to do a larger carb test every so often to see if my resistance is going down or not. No idea if this is all steroid related, partly, or none at all...

Discussion Are fats the direct cause of insulin resistance?

I've been seeing articles talking about fat loss for the obese and how it will help lower insulin resistance bringing people to normal or near normal levels... but I hadn't heard anything about lean people like me and what causes our insulin resistance till now...

I like the way you think forge... well do and don't at the same time XD I like the suspicion that it could all be just for capitalistic gain, but not so much for the seek truth. I'll see if I can make any improvements with myself... even though I'm going to be trying most anything that won't...
