Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I have had three years of looking after my husband who's Alzheimer's disease was very stressful. Unfortunately he collapsed in the middle of the night, not breathing, and I had to attempt CPR under the guidance of WYAS controller and I found the event traumatic. Sadly it was not successful and...

I didn't know there's a PF section on Health Unlocked. I'll take a look. I looked at NHS web site and was very shocked where it says statistice show the prognosis is 3 to 5 years life expectancy after diagnosis. I'm 'only' 75! I must keep positive. After all I'm not just a statistic! Thank you...

    Comfort eating

Thank you so much, Jo, for your comments about CBD. I certainly don't want to be groggy in the daytime - my mind is mushed up enough already with the shock of his sudden death. Those suggestions for snacks are useful. I've made a plan to go through our photographs, pick out the best ones to put...

    Comfort eating

Thank you for your reply jadedubo. My son has been a tremendous support dealing with all the necessary paperwork which is thrown at you when you're still reeling from the shock of a sudden death. I have managed to go to a weekly drop-in coffee shop which is run by the local help for older people...

    Comfort eating

Thank you for your response AndBreathe. I am only at the very beginning of the PF route but I am sure that the it is the result of thowing asbestos fibre at each other as kids and we had to walk to school round the Cape Asbestos factory in Hebden Bridge. (Google 'Acre Mill' and it comments on...

    Comfort eating

I have been looking after my husband of 37 years of marriage, for 3 years since he was diagnosed with Alzheimers. My GP put me onto a mild antidepressant for what he called 'Carer's Stress'. My fasting blood sugars became mid teens on most days. Unfortunately he died suddenly during the night of...

Is confusion after taking Empagliflozin normal?

Thank you for your reply. I found the whole experience utterly terrifying. I know we can all be forgetful at times, but this experience was in a totally different league!

Is confusion after taking Empagliflozin normal?

I usually take my test kit with me when I drive but went out in a bit of a rush and didn't have it with me. I've been told to keep to min 5mmols/l and test every two hours when I'm out driving. My FBG was 11.2 at the start of my day but I didn't check it again that day. The Dr did warn me that...

Is confusion after taking Empagliflozin normal?

I had an appointment at the Endochrine clinic and was seen by both a coronorary and a diabetes specialist and a pharmacist to discuss my medication. The conclusion was that I should start taking Empagliflozin. Just a very small dose of 10mg/day. They noted that I had been on the drug before and...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

14/10/21: FBG today 7.6. That is after 1 whole week with Empagliflozin added into my meds. 2 kg lower weight too. I think this drug is working by making me feel so nauseous all day and by evening meal time I just don't want to eat! Previously my FBG was always 10+ or 11+ mmol/l and once was...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

10.9 this morning. Lowest this week 9.7, highest 11.1. Still not losing any weight either, even though I was told I can stop the Gliclazide two weeks ago. Feeling thoroughly fed up with it all. Huge stress in my life as carer for husband with Alzheimer's. If I've had a bad day with him I tend to...

The 8 week blood sugar diet

I would love to try it, I just don't think I could keep it up for 8 weeks - although I understand that doing the real food version of ND is easier if you are coming at it having already established yourself on a low carb diet. I have, this week, finished 8 weeks of ND using the shakes and...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I'm really struggling at the moment. This morning it was 13.3. In the last 10days the lowest was 10.1 and the highest was 15.3. I'm really worried about it. I know that I need to be more active but there are limitations due to CABG procedure in last July and a broken ankle at the start of the...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I'm really, really struggling at the moment. Had CABG procedure in July and I also have huge stresses on me from husband having Alzheimers. Morning fasting BG always 11.0+ with 16.6 being the highest this week. HbA1c of 71. Weight 84kg. Feeling pretty ghastly and continually exhausted...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Mine is crazy figures. Always 11+ and highest this week was 16.6. I would like to ask you how you managed to reduce yours? I belong to Leeds DUK support group and when I mentioned it at the last zoom meeting they all just laughed, said you've got a problem there, they would just increase their...

FBG management. How to reduce it?

Hi! I take the Gliclazade (80mg) first thing in the morning, along with the Sitigliptin (100mg). I also take Ezetimibe (10mg) and Lansoprazole (30mg) at night and two Aspirin (75mg) at lunchtime. I'm only on day two of very low carb eating and I've been given the tip to take BG reading when I...

FBG management. How to reduce it?

Hi ianf0ster and thank you for your input. I don't have any details from my last bloods relating to HDL/LDL, only HbA1c of 71. I will start testing more frequently after eating and see how it goes. Thank you for pointing out that it will take more than a month to make an improvement.

FBG management. How to reduce it?

Thank you MrsA2 for that warning. I was also told by a Dr speaking at our local DUK support group that Gliclazade also causes weight gain. I felt a bit cross when I found that out when my previous GP visit was because of my concern about my weight gain.
