Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Everyone’s bg seems to be in the normal range. I had hba1c results 2 weeks ago and it was 106!! I’ve been low carbing and done a week of 500mg metformin and am now starting week 2 of 1000mg. My fasting bg has come down from 13.3 to 11.6 in a week but is still very high. I can’t go Keto as I...

    Metformin efficacy

My hba1c was 106 but the article I read said 1.5 to 2% reduction which equates to a max reduction of 2, so down yo 104 or am I getting this wrong?

    Metformin efficacy

I’ve just read that metformin only reduces hba1c by 1.5 to 2%. Is that right?? Surely it’s hardly worth taking it

    Can't seem to stop eating

I know exactly how you feel. My story is very similar however I have a lot of weight to lose and it's just going up at the moment. I dint seem to have control of my eating at all. I feel like a drug addict and it's really making me feel ill and depressed. I've even started secret eating as I'm...

    Type 2 A bit lost!

Thanks for taking the time to reply Maggie! Good diary is a good idea and yes I am fasting and so maybe it isn't right for me and portion sizes are too big!! I have been so good for nearly a year and just can't be strict anymore when I've lost faith! But will try a different approach

    Type 2 A bit lost!

I've been mostly low carbing for over a year and dropped 2 stone and reduced hba1c from 49 to 38 with no meds. Thrn weight loss stopped, I got kidney stones and my hair started falling out so I eased off the diet for a while. I've now been back on it for 4 weeks along with weekday 16:8 fasting...

A bit of a personal question?

Thanks, bicarb is alkaline and helps to neutralise the acidity caused by ketones. Some people evidently use apple cider vinegar as well. What is diabetes insipidus?

A bit of a personal question?

I have been on the LCHF diet now for 3 weeks and it's all going well however i have been having cystitis type gripes in my bladder for the last few days. i have been drinking loads and having a bit of bicarb, as i know this neutralises acid! But it feels like my bladder is inflamed and i know...

    Newly diagnosed and scared!

You're too right Brock. I have done a lot research in the past few weeks and we can beat this with diet and excercise. The LCHF diet along with fasting is dropping 1lb a day and my BG levels are well within target. Thats after just 2.5 weeks and so have faith!! I almost feel a tinge of...

    dawn phenomenon question?

Thanks for your advice and yes I have read about the circadian rhythm and how it affects health if out of synch. i am trying to go to bed earlier but can't seem to get up earlier! Then i worry about being in bed for too long. Long term I think i will try to change my hours.

    dawn phenomenon question?

I work a later shift - 3pm until 10:30. Therefore my whole day is 6 hours later. i.e I get up at noon and go to bed at 4ish. Does this mean that any dawn effect (liver dump) will take place when I get up or actually at dawn. Probably a silly question!! but my BS readings have been higher when i...

    Statins Increase for diabetics??

I have heard this elsewhere and it fills me with fear. My GP gave me one test that came back just in the diabetic range and was talking about statins on the phone call before she'd even seen me. She hasnt done a 2nd test and took a bit of persuading not to give me statins, metformin and blood...
