OMNIPOD / DASH Insulin Management System

I didn't think it tested your blood? Just ordered my tester kit but my brother uses this. He has libre sensor for blood glucose and inputs blood glucose level and what carbs eating into the 'phone' (PDM) which then let's the omnipod know how much insulin to provide.

    Appointments during Covid-19

Not had any contact from the diabetic clinic - my last appointment was 5 March with the consultant. Have received a letter regarding being put on a pump which I am pleased about, but no idea when the appointment will be with the pump nurse.

    Libre Sensor Question

I have been in the libre Sensor now for 6 weeks. When I had the demonstration from the Abbott Rep she said to put a new sensor on a day before the current one ran out because it takes about 24 hours for the sensor to give the correct reading. So I have done this but wondered whether others who...

Fruit ratio different to normal carbs

I am trying to lose weight and eating fruit for breakfast most days and a no carb salad or salad and fruit for lunch. Whenever I have just fruit my bolus ratio has to be 2:1+2. If I have the same amount of carbs but 'normal' carbs such as toast or cereal my ratio is 2:1. I also have to inject 2u...

    DAPHNE

I attended the Dafne course last month. I have been diabetic for 35 years since the age of 15. I found it hugely beneficial and learnt a lot. I had already started carb counting but my blood sugars were still not how I wanted them to be. They cover a lot and are not judgemental. They discuss how...

Using stevia in gluten free baking

I am coeliac as well as being type 1 and considering trying to use stevia instead of sugar in my baking. I just wanted to know what experience people have with this in baking. I have never even tried stevia so not sure if it even tastes nice but as myself and my two older brothers are type 1 and...

    Libre NHS criteria

I have a Freestyle Libre which I got for free when I took part in a trial. Now though this expensive piece of kit is just sitting in a box doing nothing. It's really frustrating as I found it really useful and helped me to see patterns but like most people I cannot afford £100 a month as my GP...

How long before you drive should you test your blood?

Thank you for the replies that puts my mind at rest. I am aware that if a test is <4 that once stable you are supposed to wait 45 mins before driving but do wonder how many people actually do?

How long before you drive should you test your blood?

I have always wondered but not been able to find anything. How long before you drive should you test your blood ie 10 minutes, 20 minutes. In the morning I test my blood before having breakfast and unless is below 4 I do not test it again before I drive about 45 mins later. I don't really want...

Freestyle Libre - worth every penny

I wish I did have £100 a month to spare. I do not eat out, drink beer etc. Like most people I just get by every month. I did do the trial for two weeks and if it was on prescription I would definitely have it. In comparison it should be cheaper for my GP practice as I test my blood at least 6...

I have been diabetic since I was 15 (1984) and recently I have been feeling like I was having a hypo, feeling hot and uncoordinated but when I test my blood it is usually in the higher numbers of 13-15. Just in case you are thinking it, it's not the menopause been and done that . Does anyone...

    Who tests regularly for ketones?

I have have only tested for ketones once just recently when my blood raised a bit higher than normal at 13. I am currently trialling the freestyle libre and you get 10 ketone test strips with it but I have never been advised to by any diabetic nurse or consultant.
