    Diabetes side effects

Ask your GP if he could give you a spacer for your inhaler and see if it calms it down a bit. Keep eating pro biotic yogurts, just mind the sugar content in some.... swish it around in your mouth and don't eat or drink anything after for a while. Another natural remedy is a mixture of equal...

    Willpower????

If it would work, I would give you some of my willpower!!! I was given a big bar of chocolate last week, and it's still in the fridge, unopened! I can say yes and I can say no to something sweet, the trouble with most people is that they don't really WANT to.... To me it's the same with smoking...

    I DID IT!

The bariatric surgeon said that he puts all patients on a high-protein diet designed to shrink the liver. They do that because the surgery is now done via key hole surgery and with a large liver, it can be pretty difficult to perform the surgery. Also it can lessen the time you have to be under...

    I DID IT!

A little update.... I went to the Bariatric Surgery Seminar and got loads of info on 3 different procedures, the Gastric Band, Gastric Bypass and the Sleeve gastrectomy (also called Gastric Sleeve)... I did mention the Endobarrier Sleeve, but they are not offering or even looking into this one...

    Byetta

I'm on Byetta. There are not many side effects that I've been aware of. Byetta calls for you to inject within an hour of eating, but I found that it made me feel very sick so my DN told me to inject just 20 minutes before my meal and it worked a treat. When you sit down to eat, eat very slowly...

    I DID IT!

That's the thing Anna. We tend to try and do everything at the same time and we want it to work right away! But that's not how it works! It takes at least a month for your body to show some reaction to your medication and often it's the side effects that make us feel down. But if you tell...

    I DID IT!

How did I do it and how long did it take... well firs let me say this... Having diabetes to me is not a big deal anymore. It is only a big deal, when people make it so. I don't deprive myself of a sweet treat and I haven't stopped eating pasta and bread and rice, I just have it in moderation! I...

    Any advice please?

Another pointer, seeing since you'll be doing more traveling. When you book a ticket for a long haul flight, it might be beneficial to mention to the person who is taking your booking, that you are diabetic and you require a low carb meal. Some good airlines will accommodate special request...

    Any advice please?

I have only this advice.... You know what you can and can't eat and you know what to do should your sugars run too low. The nuts are a good idea, but take some digestives or breakfast biscuits with you in case you need a carby boost. But most important.......... STOP WORRYING AND ENJOY YOUR...

    Pain Relief!

Hi Virginia, I too had terrible pain in my feet that kept me up all night and not wanting to put my feet on to the floor even from a sitting position. My doc gave me Amitriptaline first but it did nothing for my pain. Then he gave me, what I call " My wonder drug", Duloxatine. I take one...

My dad becomes suddenly moody, why does this happen :(

Diabetics can experience frequent and strong mood swings. They could, for instance, lose their temper, lash out, become introverted or express positive emotions in a very unusual and chaotic manner. Outbursts among people who have diabetes can also become fairly common. The problem here is that...

low blood sugar levels after eating carbohydrate snack

For breakfast I usually have 2 slices of wholemeal or granary bread, toasted with either cheese melted under the grill (very filling) or home made cooked ham (too much sugar being added in the packet ham). For lunch I have a salad with ham in it or a Spanish omelet or a (what I call) whatever...

I am a type 2 taking metformin, gliclazide and Byetta

I have the same irritating tickling in my throat, not down low but up high where the nose cavity joins the throat and there is a lot of stuff that used to be there all the time when I smoked (I quit 6 years ago). It wakes me up in the night and I have bouts of coughs through out the day too. I...

6 months eye test and diabetes consultant visit

It went swimmingly!!! The eye doc said that the hemorrhages in my right eye have almost cleared up and my left eye is doing perfectly well too. For having been diabetic (undiagnosed) for about 7 years and 8 years in total, he said I have minute diabetic changes if any at all and do not require...

    exenetide,byetta.confusion.

I had the same problem as you with the same medications and same amounts. I found that it takes byetta a long time to kick in with suppressing your hunger. I tried to take my mind off hunger by keeping busy with other things or just had some Greek yogurt too fill me up a bit more, it's low fat...

    Urine problem?

It sounds a bit like thrush. Try using yogurt. It has to be plain, sugarless, with no fruit, no color, or any other additives and has to have 'live and active cultures', or a similar note, on the container. The active cultures in the yogurt is called 'Lactobacillus acidophilus', a friendly...
