Guardian 3 transmitter and sensors - trying to sell self funded items....

Hi everyone. I don't usually post, I'm more of a lurker, however I have a question regarding selling a Guardian 3 CGM transmitter and some Guardian 3 sensors that I self funded. My hubby upgraded me to the Guardian 4 as my Christmas pressie which is amazing but my Guardian 3 is still perfectly...

    Type 1 sudden hypo unawareness

I've been on citalopram for approaching 1 month now (on Monday next week) and I have had 3 hypos over the last two days which have caught me completely unaware. I usually become aware around 4.3 but I have been as low as 2.8 today without any symptoms. Is anyone aware of this as a side effect...

    Pump consumables

I have recently been put on a pump but had issues with infusion sets. As a result I have a box of 10 Silhouette infusion sets that I don't need. It seems a shame to bin them. Can I sell them?

    New to pump - problem

Have had a brilliant day. :) All readings, bar one, in the 5 - 7 range. Due to change set again tomorrow though, getting nervous already. Oh, and I didn't mention before, but I'm needle phobic! All very unnerving. Especially the idea of stainless steel cannulas. Don't they hurt when you...

    New to pump - problem

Hmmm, unfortunately didn't see this last post until after I'd dosed to reach my target levels. Once again, as predicted, I overshot. Was 8.3 by the time I got to bed, fine, but dropped to 3.7 by 5am. All good today though so thanks for your advice guys. Hopefully this won't happen too often...

    New to pump - problem

Thanks for the advice. Just changed the set :(. Bent cannula as predicted. Have given correction dose and felt the same sting I have felt on the first dose with the other 2 sets but not the change I did after lunch. Hopefully that's me sorted. Will test again in an hour or so and make sure...

    New to pump - problem

Hi there. I went on a pump last Thursday and have had a great first few days. Changed the set on Sunday, fine. Changed it today and had a problem with the insertion device. I got my fingers caught up in the release phase and the needle only went in slowly and partially. I pushed it home...

    Mortgage insurance

Bad luck kelp84. Out of interest, who refused you? I've been told that it should be possible to get the cover but the premium will be loaded based on my HbA1c value. Has anyone else had experience of this? Tracy

    Mortgage insurance

Hi there - does anyone have any advice regarding finding an insurance company that doesn't penalise diabetics too much? I am type 1 and currently trying to get a mortgage. I have heard that it can be very expensive to get life assurance to secure the mortgage and would appreciate any advice on...

    Relocation advice

Hi there. I'm currently relocating to West Yorkshire and having to transfer my diabetic consultant care. The two main towns near me are Leeds and Harrogate. Does anyone have any experience of either centres of care or have any particular views of which one I should try to be registered under...

correction doses of insulin - how do i work out?

Hi To keep track of everything, I use an app called RapidCalc. You can set up all your ratios etc in settings and then the app does the rest. Input your current BG reading and how many carbs (if any) and it gives you a total dose to take helpfully split into 3 sections - amount needed for...

    Type 2 and thyroid problems

Fallenstar Thanks for your post. I was diagnosed T1 last December and had a bout of episcleritis this summer. My eye specialist sent me for a thyroid antibody test which came back at 700++ when it should have been zero or no worse than 60 (not sure what the units are). Am waiting for a...

    Auto-Immune question

First - please forgive the ramblings to come and the length of my question. I do get there eventually, I promise! Ok, now I'm terrified. Was diagnosed Type 1 back in December. Just turned 40 at the time, previously healthy, mid range BMI, no family history of diabetes. Stressful job...

    Exercise help

Hi there. I've been diagnosed T1 sixth months now and was quite exercise active prior to diagnosis. I used to run quite a bit and also do some strength conditioning work. I was very ill upon diagnosis with a large weight loss but am getting there now with insulin doses and carb counting etc...

Recently DKA- scared about going abroad!

Hi Lilllaura87, I've been diagnosed 6 months now. Apparently I'm odd - perfectly healthy forty year old develops type 1 diabetes for no apparent reason. Now that's what I call bad luck! Still taking each day as it comes - thought that at some point I'd have it all worked out. Just starting...

Recently DKA- scared about going abroad!

Hi. Forgive me, I'm new to all of this, but your last post has confused me. I thought DKA happened as a result of prolonged high BG. A large dose of Novorapid would surely result in a deep hypo? Help! I thought I was beginning to get the hang of things.... Tracy

    DAFNE info from graduates

The book and the app are both called 'Carbs and Cals'. I use the app and would thoroughly recommend it for when you are out and about. It is a bit subjective but better than guessing! Tracy

    HbA1c

Thanks both. I am hopeful that I can get it a little lower next time because I was still running high in January while I got used to relatively lower sugars. Have to say though, after the initial burst of novelty, I'm quite fed up with it all now. Bit worrying since I'm only 3 months in and...
