    Way to alert low BG.

Hi all thanks for your responses. I'm on a Omni Pod pump. I think that my BG was coming down as the 16 was about one hour after eating and my BG was fine before the meal. I didn't do a temporary basal but will be doing in future.

    Way to alert low BG.

Hi. So I was out riding my bike today. I checked my BG before setting off and it was 16. Half an hour into the ride I checked them again and they were 2.3. This is the first time I've ever had a hypo with no symptoms. I was wondering if there was a device that could alert me about hypos, before...

Yellowing of skin around eyes and mouth

Google told me that too. I've been keeping an eye on the colour of my eyes, and other than usual bloodshot I haven't noticed a change. It just seems to be the skin around the eyes. I had it earlier on this aft and felt really tired yet it's gone now and I feel fine again. The only other thing...

    New Doctors

Every time I go to see my specialist Dr it's a new person. I never seem to end up seeing the same Dr twice. It seems that I would get better advice from them if they understood my background a bit more. Does anyone else have this issue. Or do I just smell bad. ;)

    Hypoglycemia - confused and depressed

Is it normal to get a hypo AFTER a meal? Yes. It's caused by too much fast acting insulin for the amount of carbs you've consumed. If this is a persistent problem for you then ask your specialist about the possibility of attending a DAFNE course. I went on one and it helped a great deal. Is it...

    Husband type 1 moods

As Tony said a drop in BG when you've historically been running high can cause the body to give symptoms like a hypo even though you're where you need to be. For some people, myself included, these symptoms can include irritability. Give him some time, as he's probably feeling a bit **** at the...

Yellowing of skin around eyes and mouth

I have booked an appointment to see the GP. I just wondered if anyone here had suffered from this before and whether it was related to my diabetes or not.

Hyper's in the morning (dawn effect)

It would appear to be caused by a lack of background insulin on a night. As others have suggested testing to discover when the rise is occurring would be the first step. You mention that splitting the dose made it more unstable. I would consult with your diabetic nurse specialist and try to look...

Yellowing of skin around eyes and mouth

Hi all It was pointed out to me recently that my skin around my eyes was yellow. I looked yet by the evening it had cleared up. I've since noticed that it keeps going yellow, but not staying that way and only in an afternoon. The only other symptom I seem to have from this is fatigue. My BG is...

Being told off for having to take early break.

@azure I am able to eat at my desk and that is what I do. That is classed as having a break at my work. @catapillar Speaking with HR would be the next step. It hasn't got that far yet thankfully. @slip I am trying different things to stop the hypos. When I lowered my basal I ended up going...

Being told off for having to take early break.

I do take dextrose tablets but unless I have something more substantial I just go low again after 5 minutes. I've always been like that. It's not as bad now that I'm on the pump. I have played around with my bolus but can't seem to get it right at the moment.

Being told off for having to take early break.

Hi all. I've been diabetic for 14 years and worked at my current company for 8 of those. In the past my company and management have always been supporting of my diabetes. However in the last 6 months or so they have stopped being. Occasionally, more often than it should, my sugars go low just...

    Keep forgetting to do BT/Insulin

I've been on the pump for nearly 2 months now. I keep finding myself forgetting to do a blood test after meals. This means I have no insulin going in. I only remember when I do a test later and find I am very high. Does this happen to anyone else?

Took novorapid when should have taken levimir!

When I was on injections I did something very similar. I put novorapid in instead of glargine and whilst halfway down the plunger realised what I had done. Pulled it out and did no glargine that day. took a load of dextrose and ate 2 cereal bars. went a little bit low and then spent the rest of...

    Driving - Type 2

I'm not 100% sure about type 2 but as a type 1 diabetic on a insulin pump I've not had any problems with the DVLA. Just have to renew the license (for free) every 3 years. You can drive up to 3.5 tonne (total wieght of vehicle, including any towing) and can tow up to half the wieght of the car...

    Insulin Pump

I've just started the pump and find that while it is very good and gives me better controll, it also requires time, effort and experimentation. I would recomend it to anyone who was willing to stick with it. The first two weeks were hit and miss and I had constant hypos at 2 o'clock. I would...
