Hello I've just seen that you're taking Rybelsus. I've been prescribed this as I am diabetic and need to lose weight for surgery. Just wondering how you have been on it and have you tried any other diabetic medications as well?

Hi Margaret Sounds a great way of eating. Just wondering if you ever took diabetes medication or just go straight onto low carb like Kenny?

    Peripheral neuropathy in left arm.

Hi Margaret, how did you get your blood sugars down? I've been trying to do low carb for years but not very successfully. I hate taking medication but given that I've been told the numbness and tingling is due to diabetes and blood pressure I feel I would be silly not to.

    Peripheral neuropathy in left arm.

They did a CT scan of head which was OK and US of neck to check carotid arteries. They also did some blood tests to check vitamins D, B12, folate and blood sugar. I'm a bit low in Vit D and have been given supplements but others are OK.

    Peripheral neuropathy in left arm.

Hi Kenny, I thought you only got peripheral neuropathy when uncontrolled very high sugar levels for years so this has come as a shock. My HbA1c levels have never been more than 51. My feet seem unaffected which is odd if that's usually the area that's affected first but the whole of my left arm...

    Peripheral neuropathy in left arm.

I went to A & E on Saturday as I was getting tingling and numbness in my left hand, arm, shoulder and the left side of my face. I thought I may be having a stroke but the consultant seems to think it is due to uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure. I am a bit surprised at this as thought...

    HbA1c score and medication

Thanks for all the advice Ellie. The problem is I'm finding it really difficult to control my eating at the moment, virtually impossible so even if I swapped to low carb bread it wouldn't solve that problem. It is helping me to read people's stories in this forum as a lot are very inspiring.

    HbA1c score and medication

Great that you've lost so much weight - let us know what your next HbA1c is. I lost over 2 stone 2 years ago but put it all back on. My blood sugar and blood pressure all went to normal range so I know it works if you lose weight. I'm going to have to cut a lot of things out but am finding it...

    HbA1c score and medication

Just realised I didn't answer your question. I usually try to put off eating until midday but if I eat earlier it will be usually something like scrambled eggs with toast and butter or bacon eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms with slice of bread. I think intermittent fasting is really useful and don't...

    HbA1c score and medication

I'm having a real problem with bread which I can't seem to stop eating, compulsively. Usually with a lot of butter and maybe marmalade or marmite on it, sometimes toasted. I know this is high carb and am well informed about low carb diet but no matter how much I try I find myself eating it and...

    HbA1c score and medication

I have just had my HbA1 test result and it is 51 after 6 months. My scores over the last year have all been similar. I am not taking any medication as have been trying to control diabetes with diet but not been very successful. I’ve got my diabetic review next week and wondering if I should...
