Peripheral neuropathy in left arm.

Have you ever taken medication for diabetes and have you lost a lot of weight on low carb? Do you count carbs every day?

Hope you don't mind all the questions.
No medication ever at all. They offered me metformin but I turned it down.

I've lost over 30kg - can't be sure because I don't know exactly where I was when I started. I'm still losing fat but have started to regain some muscle so my weight is stable, but my waist is still shrinking.

I sort of count carbs, but I am not one of those people who weighs stuff out and measures exactly. So i usually say around 20g/day, could be 25, could be 15. I don't eat any of the high carb items like bread or potatoes, rice, pasta, fruit, cereals and nothing sweet.

I also do all my own cooking, and almost never use anything prepared. I'm also retired and have got the time to do this. So everything is either meat, fish, eggs, or dairy, with a lot of green veg. My carbs come mainly from things like onions or tomatoes - I make curries and chillies. Fortunately I can manage things like kidney beans and chickpeas without difficulty.

In the beginning I tested before and +2 hours after every meal and wrote down both the results and the meal contents in a diary. I did that for two years, but it means that I know almost certainly what any given meal is going to do to my BG. These days I only test for new food or as a regular check.

does that help?

Yes thanks, that's really helpful. Glad you're doing so well on it.
