    T1 little stars..

The pods and libre have held up well for nearly 2 weeks of sun, sea and pool time.. I have cut tegaderm to cover the sticky parts of each - worked pretty well. The diving was only for 20 mins and in a pool around 1 metre... no problems with either pod or libre after. She wanted to do a beach...

    Loop...

So, 1 pod (3 days in) and I have to admit I love this system. I will self fund omnipod if I can’t get nhs funding (will have to sell my jeep!!). Bolusing is a synch, I have had a couple of lows, buts that’s my playing with basal rates .. but what a difference a few days makes!!

    Newly diagnosed type 1

Hi @SL1975 I had exactly the same experience as yourself, I even queried with the consultants if I was even diabetic!! (Many occasions). not sure where you are, but I went onto libre pretty much as soon as I could, this really helped me check what was going on and see the trends on which way...

    Loop...

Yeah, I’m in conversation with my daughters team weekly, we are struggling to level her, so they are waiting on results of my test ;) If all goes well, we will be looking at a funding request for Dexcom for her. As to low carb/keto.. I have done this myself with a lot of success, unfortunately...

    Loop...

So, I have taken the plunge.. self funded Dexcom g6 and I have to say I love this cgm. I was on mdi and setup loop with my numbers and went open loop for a week to test. Great to test the app and the interaction with my g6 (pump simulator mode). I had a consultant appointment and he is putting...

So.. updated to ignite a few days back and all was good. Advice for a newly diagnosed type 1 and doing acrobatics

T1 won’t stop you doing this, I am a year in and am back to distance running - it’s taken me more time to come to terms with the diagnosis than actually doing things as a T1! My biggest bit of advice is to prep when doing exercise - for me I decrease my background insulin the night before and...

    Half marathon ... done!

Been pretty quite of late, life is busy! Now on a split dose levemir and fiasp mix. It’s really helped with being able to manage long runs.. As such, I completed the London landmarks half last weekend! This is something I didn’t think I would be able to manage when diagnosed and hypoing after...

    The honeymoon is over...

Accepting the diagnosis is much easier now the honeymooning is over... feel like I can actually move on and move forward. It sucks, but bit of a relief to be honest..

    The honeymoon is over...

So I’ve been pretty quiet of late. Finally got my results from the hospital, GAD antibody was strong positive @2000 units/ml and islet cell antibody was negative - not sure what this means but paperwork says definite Type 1. My honeymoon period of taking 0 fast acting came to a sudden halt...

Low Carb, Low Calorie Diet And Bg Update...

When fasting my ketones went to 1.8, am checking morning and night and am sitting around 0.3-0.6. DSN knows about this and has ordered the blood tests for me, am 6 months diagnosed and she doesn’t think this is honeymooning. The idea was to shed a few kg before my holiday.. nothing major, but...

    Lsd

I took a lot of acid years ago when younger... it affected me differently based on how I was feeling, who I was with etc. I guess acid paranoia would be my only fear as a diabetic. If you get yourself worked up about bs levels you may think a dose is required and accidentally hypo (or worse)...
