    Sugar substitutes

What do people feel about the various sweeteners available. Do most people stick with sucralose or are there other favourites? Does anyone use the sugar alcohols (think that's what they're called)? Am I right in thinking sucralose is the best for baking?

I am no expert but my understanding is that if you have a high BS AND ketones in your urine, you are more likely to be in ketoacidosis. The body only uses stored fat for energy when either there are no carbs to use (ie very low carb diet - ketosis) or you have next to no insulin to allow you to...

    Breakfast help?

Can anyone suggest some breakfast ideas that are "sweet" rather than savoury? I really struggle to eat breakfast and cannot face meat or cheese at this time of day and I'm all egged out. Any suggestions gratefully received.

My old life is over. :(

I do understand how you feel. I was diagnosed three weeks ago and I too am a real foodie. But, I have been cooking and my family have enjoyed my low carb offerings. Tonight we had hake topped with a Parmesan and spring onion layer and courgette fritters in a cheesy tomato sauce. Both very nice...
