    Insulin or no insulin?

are you on a meal time dose or ratios? if you are eating food that has very few carbs you wont need insulin but depending on your sensitivity this would need to be probably less than 10g of carbs. I would recommend you talk to your doctor about this to either set your ratios or adjust them!

    Diabetes and relationships

I'm sorry you've had to deal with this, but there will be people out there that really will care. Not a bf but one of my best friends always carries fruit pastilles for me and has a note in his phone with all the information if I need help. If someone cares about you they will want to help you...

    pump sites leaving scarring

Hiya, just wondering if anyone has come across similar/ knows how to fix it: I have found especially recently that when i remove a pump site i am left with a little red dot where the site was, which is fine but they seem to last a lot longer than they used to! I have found that especially...

    Teenager hormones

I actually have heard that diabetes correlates with a later and heavier period. I started mine late but I was diagnosed at 15 so pretty sure it had an effect on growth.

    Minors on the Libre

I have a libre, I got it about a year ago when I was 15 and it has made my life so much easier, I absolutely love it! Is there anything in particular that you're worried about? Also have you checked with your dsn if you can use the libre readings instead of finger picks, because I can and it...

    Medtronic Reservoirs

I would recommend calling them up and telling them that you are on your last infusion set. When I said that they sent me one box for the next day and the other two I ordered two weeks later. They'll prioritise you if you're about to run out!

    Can't put basal above 1.2U/hr

So im on the medtronic 640G which I love but I have quite high basal rates, my dinner time one being 1.2U/hr which is the maximum the pump will allow. I'm currently sick and my levels have been going quite high and so I wanted to use the temporary bolus to add on an extra 15% to my doses but...

NHS vs NHS-Scotland: Who Treats T1s better?

I only know about England, but for me I was offered the omnipod fully funded but not cgms or even libres yet. If you want a cgm funded by the NHS then you have to fit a certain set of criteria eg no hypo awareness or play sport at national level. I think the dexcom is a much more widely...

    Temporary Basal Rate on Pump

Is there a way to increase basal using the temporary basal? During exams, because of stress, I go high so I'd like to increase my basal rate but I can't scroll higher than 100% (im on Medtronic 640g)

    Insulin Resistance

Have you talked to your doctor/diabetic nurse about this? they should be able to tell you to adjust your bolus settings or to increase your long-acting insulin to adapt to this change.

    How Many Carbs

wow everyone has such low ratios here! I'm on 1 unit for 3g at dinner time! I just eat whatever I want and bolus for that. PS pizza is A LOT (im talking 100g+) if you are having a full one. I recommend downloading the Carbs and Cals app and buying the book if you don't already have it as it has...

    Any Good Snack Options

Highly recommend a mix of sugar-free jelly, gelatin, and 2/3 cups of water makes really yummy soft jellies and are zero carbs! another good snack option is fat bombs but they are a little sweeter so better later on in the day

    Self Injection Tips

just be careful to hold the needle 90 degrees from the skin - nice and straight, pinch the skin a little, go slowly and i sometimes find it easier to look away or close my eyes just while I'm pushing the needle all the way in (not while finding somewhere to put it!) Be sure to wait 10 seconds...

    dofe and gcses

Hiya, I'm doing my GCSEs and gold dofe this year and I just wondered if anyone had any advice for this kind of stuff? I did my mocks not long after being diagnosed so I'm not confident, but I at least have an idea. I have done bronze and silver dofe, however, I dd both of them before being...

    Insulin pump

im choosing the same, and i much prefer the medtronic but thats almost purely on the design and handset bc i found the omnipod one so slow and annoying and i just know that would bug me so much! The omnipod is clearly a better choice if you play a contact sport like rugby though. It really...

    ncs challenge

do you have to be in a private space to do your testing/site changes? For me i prefer to just do it and everyone else can just deal with it because im not going out of my way to make my chronic illness fit around their lives! I did used to leave class etc when i was first diagnosed, but since...
