    Leukocytes in Urine

Probably water infection. I have good results with cranberry juice mixed half with water but if it is you will also need antibiotics which may screw with your blood glucose. Any infection/inflammation messes with mine. I also am having poor blood sugar control following COVID. I think the...

Continuous Glucose Monitor vs Blood Glucose Monitor

I am taking some some herbals as I did not get along with Metformin (insulin plant - makes your body make more insulin and berberine). Also, I am taking dapagliflozin and semaglutide. I get the liver glycogen thing and am aware that my blood glucose could be higher on fast days (2 x 36 hour...

    Type 2 Levels

Do you take insulin? Are you ill with a cold or anything? If not, you might want to cut out all the carbs for a day or so (All the carbs means no fruit or veg either) and check your blood sugar often to be sure you don't have a hypo. But it would be best if you could get some medical advice...

Continuous Glucose Monitor vs Blood Glucose Monitor

Hi All, I just purchased a Libre Freestyle 2 and have had it about a day. The readings I am getting are about 4-5 points higher than my Safe AQ blood sugar monitor. For example: CGM says 11.9 and BSM says 7.7. Any thoughts? I thought this would be good as on fasting days my fingers get...

    NHS Soup and Shakes diet

I eat 50 - 100 grams carbs a day. I know it's not that low but I struggle with lower. I would like to eat all organic but approx 20% are not organic and therefore I don't know if they are GMO or have been sprayed with something - insecticide, herbicide, or preservative. Also, non-organic...

    Fed up

Yeah, very low carb. My carbs come from high fibre veggies, lots of green leafys, and berries if I want something sweet. Stay away from most premade stuff as I fee, its loaded with poison.

Diagnosed with graves disease in 2012. Now post rai hypothyroid. But the endo that treated the graves told me I would be diabetic within 10 years. Sadly, he was right. But,I really appreciate that he took the time to have astraight up conversation with me. Those docs are few and far between.

    Fed up

Hi all, Hope this is the place I can have a little rant. I have Polycythemia (too many red blood cells) and like anemia, it affects the hba1c. It gives an inflated result, on this occasion, 85. Every time this happens I get a panic call from my surgery saying the diabetic nurse needs to talk...

    NHS Soup and Shakes diet

I was going to ask the same. My endocrinologist has referred me and I agreed to have a look at it but I am concerned that the shakes are highly processed which for me is a no go. I have cut out over 80% of highly processed food as I feel rubbish when I eat this frankenfood. I'm also a little...

High blood sugar after COVID infection

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has had higher blood sugar readings after a COVID infection. I had COVID for 2 weeks in December and my fasting sugar went up to ~10. I was not too worried as I know illness will send it up but I have been testing negative now for 3 weeks and it hasn't come...

Petition: Reinstate Dr David Unwin's sugar infographics as a NICE endorsed resource

Signed and wish I could sign a bazillion times. It's so frustrating to find something that helps and then have the access to it restricted because a little pressure was applied. Someone will benefit monetarily; don't know how many members of NICE or the media have their snouts in the Big...

Does high red blood count affect hbA1C

Hi All, Just got a1c results and they were higher than expected. I use a CPAP machine and have an abnormally high haemoglobin count due this. As its the glycated haemoglobin that is measured to get the hbA1C, I wonder if anyone knows how a high haemoglobin count might affect the hba1c result.

Anyone else experience higher blood sugar during periods

Posted this on another site and it got closed due to medical advice. I will see a doc and I'm not looking for medical advice. Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. Sorry if this is TMI but wanted to see if there are others. Been on keto since end of march and my periods...

    Blood sugar high on Keto

Thanks for the welcome :) Before I went on Keto I had cut out a lot of the processed foods anyway but I was eating things like lentils, beans, corn, quinoa and other 'healthy grains' as well as a lot of fresh veg but not so much fat.

    Hba1c retest

Hi all, New to the forum so hopefully not posting something that's been hashed and rehashed to death. Been on keto for a couple years now and although weight loss is minimal, energy is up, pain is under control, Hba1c normal, and I just feel so much better. For the record I'm a pretty hefty...

Baking with coconut flour and almond flour

This is a really nice pumpkin cake. You could substitute pureed butternut squash for the pumpkin if you can't source tinned pumpkin. It is American measurements so a cup is 8 oz by volume. I use a honey stevia blend instead of the maple syrup and its not bitter. I also add 1/2 teaspoon...
