    Best ‘sugar detox’ book?

I have read his book and found it very helpful. I was just looking for a bit more around the ‘moral support’ side if it. I totally get the science/anatomy/physiology side of what sugar does to your body (I now consider it poison) but still not managing to cut it out completely. I don’t want to...

    Lancets

Oh wow! I’ve only been using the wee needles once then binning them! Are you not worried about getting infections from re-use? I suppose if you guys have been safely reusing them it must be ok?

    Best ‘sugar detox’ book?

I’m looking for a book that will help come off sugar. I’ve been on amazon and most have some 1* reviews. I would rather take a personal recommendation from you guys on the forum. Thanks

    Resistant starch and BG readings.

Thanks Tom. I read an article by Michael Mosley from 2014 I think talking about resistant starch. It was a small study they did for his tv program ‘trust me I’m a doctor’. Interestingly they found that cooking pasta then reheating it had and even greater positive effect. But it was only a small...

Prediabetes Fasting blood glucose - time of testing

Hi there Is the only reason they recommend testing your fbg first thing when you wake because of the time since your last meal? Making around 8 hours of fasting? Reason I ask is because many people, myself included, suffer from the dawn phenomenon. I do the 5:2 diet and don’t eat at all...

LCHF intermittent fasting for low weight diabetics type 2

Read the blood sugar diet by Michael Mosley. He covers those who don’t have a lot of weight to lose. Your bmi comes in around 23 which is at the top end of the recommended 18.5-24.9 range so even if you lost a few pounds you’d still be well within the healthy / normal range

    Pre-diabetes or not?

That’s excellent that you’ve made such a difference! I’ve been on low carb diet for the past three weeks and so far lost 8lbs. My fbg has hovered around 5.5 in the mornings. Had pizza and a small slice of cake on Tuesday and next morning fbg was 6.2! And I’d gained 2lbs! Just goes to show you...

    Advice for GP appointment

I mostly drink water. Tea no sugar and literally a splash of milk or red bush tea or Green tea with no milk. I don’t drink any diet juice. I very occasionally will have some no sugar added squash but have weaned myself off that as well really.

    Advice for GP appointment

Thanks Geoff. In my mind it’s the crunchy texture actually. I prefer softer (mushier) things. I can manage a vegetable soup if it’s blitzed but recently have managed to eat chunkier soup (if I just swallow and don’t chew lol). I’ve been addicted to sugar for so long that the ‘savoury’ tastes...
