Is it ok to use a lancet more than once? I put a new one in everytime i check my blood. But someone said i can use it more than once?

When I first diagnosed, I was advised to use a lancet twice and have done ever since.
Given how much needles hurt when they are blunt, I wouldn't want to add to the bruises on my fingers with over-lancet-use. But I guess that depends how sensitive your digits are.

I change it when it becomes sore or blunt.......which is against advice but my fingers are still soft....;)

I change mine when it gets blunt, too. Usually that's when it refuses to draw sufficient blood, or it hurts more. I would say maybe 25 tests, and that's if I remember.

I change mine when I read a post like this... sorry not a great example to set to others, but it's my fingers and as long as it draws blood then I re-use, a t1 diabetic nurse advised me the same, but placed greater importance on changing needles after only 1-2 times, which is far more important based on potential for lipohypertrophy issues.

My lancet gets changed usually when I start a new pot of BG strips (i.e every 50 strips). I test about 3 - 4 times a day using the same finger and then change fingers. I find different fingers need different settings, but I can never remember which requires what pressure! Ouch.

I concur with everyone else. I change mine when getting blood gets difficult. Needles are different on every time

This point often comes up and someone once said they change theirs on St Swithens Day! I change mine every few weeks mainly to keep my DN happy who went ballistic when she found I re-used them. Otherwise I might change one every 6 months or so. Basically change it when it's blunt.

I load a new lancet in the Accu-Chek Multiclix every time I open a new tub of strips.

The Search feature must be broken again... :D

Oh wow! I’ve only been using the wee needles once then binning them!

Are you not worried about getting infections from re-use? I suppose if you guys have been safely reusing them it must be ok?

Nope!

I put a fresh one in every night ready for the morning.

I changed mine in both meters today, after my fingers appeared to have run out of blood!

They are supposed to be single use, it is up to you whether you take that advice. So long as you wash your hands before testing, you should be ok.

Each kit has its own Lance but I generally use the CodeFree one.

My first meter came with an Accu-Chek Fastclix, which is the best lancet device on the market, and all subsequent meters have come with their own devices, but I have never used them. I just use my Fastclix. I have a spare one in case this one breaks. They are interchangeable because all they do is prick your finger.
