    Another 3 months on

Why? My understanding was that lada is simply a slow adult onset variant of type 1 and nothing to do with type 2

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

A damaged pancreas (by drugs/surgery/pancreatitis etc) is often termed type 3c. Very similar to type 1 in that a lesser or no insulin is produced, except type 1 is considered autoimmune rather than direct injury. 1.5 is a slower onset in adults of type 1.

Five Guys Burgers - lettuce wrap

I got one once quite a few years ago absolutely nothing like the picture. I literally had one soggy iceberg leaf each side of the burger. Pathetic. Never been back.

Can intermittent fasting cause higher bs levels until you eat?

if that’s the case I’m wondering if some sugar free gum would stop the dumping and lower bgl. And also wondering if that’s a good thing or not. If my liver is storing up a lot of glucose wouldn’t getting rid of it out of the liver be a good thing in the long run for getting rid of the fat stores...

They are a lot better than pasta, rice, bread, crackers etc.

Want to and know how but

Have you investigated help for people in difficulty (maybe the food bank people can help) to find a freezer? What about local selling groups. We have a number of free give away sites (eg free cycle) where people literally give things away for free? I’m lucky enough never to have used a food...

Want to and know how but

I still think getting a working freezer would be key to allowing you to bulk buy when things are on offer and batch cook and freeze for later, soups, stews etc. Can your family help with sourcing one?

Want to and know how but

Can you get a new freezer as that would open up so many choices to you? There are often community schemes to help people in hardship or even second hand offers around where people ditch them for cosmetic reasons rather than functional. Why are your family trying to slowly kill you off by...

Healthy BMI - Recently Diagnosed Type 2 at 34 years old - (Help Required!)

So cpeptide being highish is a sign of type 2 - what was the corresponding blood glucose at the same time though? With high glucose you’d expect higher insulin. If glucose is low there’s no real demand for insulin therefore you’d expect lower. If you have no weight to lose why are you...

Healthy BMI - Recently Diagnosed Type 2 at 34 years old - (Help Required!)

Sorry having searched I find I’ve not saved them. Like you I’ve read it in various places

Healthy BMI - Recently Diagnosed Type 2 at 34 years old - (Help Required!)

Can I check what this entailed? Some only check GAD antibodies. And whilst a positive is near definite, a negative doesn’t rule it out entirely. The antibodies can not show up after they’ve done their thing, other type of antibodies can be responsible too. Was c -peptide/insulin checked...

Want to and know how but

Who is cooking and buying the food? Whilst it’s frustrating if family aren’t on board, you don’t have to do as they say if you know better. yoghurt is ok if it’s plain, Greek style. Berries are ok too.

Can you get canned/frozen veg? what are these? Who’s adding the sugar and carbs? what does it mean by “no good freezer”?

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

Totally understood. Been there. Revisit those feelings from time to time too. This place has been a saving grace for venting, sharing, learning and finding others that get it. Stick around.

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

Sorry I wasn’t criticising you. More agreeing that many of us have gone through a similar epiphany that the advice is in fact wrong and what we thought was incontrovertible is not in fact the case and had the same anger. I for instance had a number of blood tests that warned of the approach...

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

Why do you think you went from healthy to diabetic in 2 months? Did you ever actually get the results from the study or are you trusting you’d hear from them? Do you have any hba1c or even fasting blood glucose tests from before diagnosis and is there really a huge and rapid increase? The...

    Will I need insulin eventually?

Sure the entire system is buckling and you have a thankless task and there are indeed many patients who don’t help themselves. But. We see in here all the time keen motivated people who have been given frankly terrible advice if given any at all beyond “lose weight”. How can they help...

    A Tiny Whinge

Would you be equally offended if they commented on a change of hair style or colour? Is there a reason why “I changed my diet/resolved a health issue” wasn’t an appropriate, vague and non personal reply? People are interested in drastic changes. 49kg is huge and no wonder it was noticed...

    Type 2 or LADA?

Actually no it doesn’t. As other have said no GAD antibodies isn’t conclusive as it’s possible to have none or another type. Also ketones are typically only present when someone is either in nutritional ketosis or heading towards DKA, which is a big way many type 1 get initially diagnosed. I...
