UK - Changing Trust to a More Pump Friendly One - Possible?

Hello, Not sure if this is the right group for this question. If not, please accept my apologies. I am very keen to move on to a Pump (preferably patch) system. On the surface I'm not sure I qualify due to the fact that my HbA1c is "too good". However, that decent HbA1c is an average that...

Just started using My Dexcom G6 today!

Hi, Do you mind me asking which watch you are using to do this? I am a Garmin user and I know that there is a Garmin app that links to the Dexcom G6 but it only seems to be available in the US - it's certainly not available in the UK!

    Diabetes and statins

I might be wrong about this still being current policy, but is it not the case that GP's are incentivised (financially) under NICE guidelines to prescribe statins to what are defined as "at risk groups" - which is essentially those people who are considered to be at a 10% greater risk of having...

    Diabetes and statins

If you are in the UK, ask for a printout of the full set of your most recent test results. As someone on here has already said, I'm pretty sure that access to your own test results is a right and they cannot refuse to give them to you. After all, it is your data about your health - not a state...

    Which meter would you recommend?

I use a OneTouch Vario Flex. Good meter with automatic transfer of readings to the App via Bluetooth. The strips might be a bit more expensive than the Select Plus ones you are currently using.

Problems with Availability of OneTouch Verio Test Strips

Yes, otherwise I would have to pay for them out of my own pocket.

Problems with Availability of OneTouch Verio Test Strips

Sadly that doesn't help me as I am trying to fill a UK prescription. I don’t think Amazon helps with that. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Problems with Availability of OneTouch Verio Test Strips

Hi All, Is anyone having trouble getting OneTouch Verio test strips through their pharmacy at the moment? I normally deal with either the local Boots or Lloyds pharmacies near me and all of them are saying that they are currently unable to order strips through their wholesalers - Alliance...

Fasting Blood Test - Type 1 Diabetes - Cause for Concern?

Just a bit of an update. Had the blood test today and had a moan about being asked to do a fasting blood test. I was immediately told that it was inappropriate for me to be asked to do one and policy was NOT to request type 1's to have a fasting blood test. Suspicion is that when GP ordered...

Fasting Blood Test - Type 1 Diabetes - Cause for Concern?

It strikes me as a delaying tactic as well. Best case it's just unneccessary hoop pumping that they are forcing. It happens a lot in the East of England CCG's for some reason. In my CCG (East & North Herts) I can only get a Libre prescription via a Hospital consultant. As I currently don't...

Fasting Blood Test - Type 1 Diabetes - Cause for Concern?

Hello, I have finally got my GP to do a referral to a local Consultant so that I can push my case for getting the Freestyle Libre on prescription. Unfortunately, the local hospital team will not process the referral unless I have a set of blood test results from the last six months - my last...

    Can my GP prescribe libre?

Hi @Tony337. Where do you live? If we knew that then we could see which CCG controls your area and then one of us would be very early able to tell you what the prescribing policy is for that CCG. It's the CCG that makes the rules so I suspect that you already have been given the answer - but...

    Applying for Freestyle Libre.

Where do you live? Knowing the CCG that covers your area will be the best indicator of the type of approach you need to make. You need to understand, what the CCG's response has been to the recent NHS England prescription guidance. You also need to know where you stand in therms of the...

    Freestyle Libre cost/funding?

Exactly! And yet, as in the case of mid-Essex CCG, we are seeing revised criteria that won't come anywhere close to reaching 20% of their T1's. I suppose the charitable interpretation is that these CCG's have so little knowledge of the relatives states of their T1 populations that they are...

    Freestyle Libre cost/funding?

I think that is the point - some CCG's don't want to prescribe as they see it as an expensive solution so they set extreme criteria that very few people will meet. This is despite the analysis done by NHS England that shows that for people testing more than 8 time per day that the Freestyle...

    NHS and Free style Libre

It depends where in the country you are. Trust me, unfortunately the post code lottery has not ended yet in all parts of England. It currently depends on where you are as to whether your CCG has adopted the NHS England criteria that came into effect on 1 April. Where do you live generally, I...

    Freestyle Libre cost/funding?

Unfortunately, the post code lottery is still very much in force with most CCG's. Many CCG's (including mine which is East & North Herts) have not yet updated their guidance to reflect the new NHS England criteria for the prescribing of Libre. As of the end of April my CCG are still utilising...

    Freestyle Libre cost/funding?

If it is any of the other CCG's in East Anglia (namelyGreat Yarmouth and Waveney, North Norfolk, South Norfolk,Norwich and West Norfolk CCGs) they have only said that they will implement the NHS England guidance sometime in April but nothing appears to have happened yet. They have also not...

    Freestyle Libre cost/funding?

Which part of East Anglia? If it is Ipswich and East Suffolk then they are following the NHS England guidance but initial prescribing can only be done by the Hospital specialist team, not by your GP or Diabetes nurse. If you meet the criteria and want to be prescribed Libre then you will need...

Libre on Prescription - Anyone Still Have Problems Getting Access?

Hello, Just a general question. Now that we have reached 1 April 2019, is there anyone on here who meets the NHS England criteria for Freestyle Libre prescriptions but is still unable to get the Freestyle Libre on an NHS funded prescription? I'm trying to find out if the claims that the...
