Thank you for this. It's a 2 mile walk afterwards back to the house so I can walk them off! Thanks for your useful and supportive comment.

Just got my 2nd HbA1c results - a couple of questions

I was diagnosed in mid January. My HbA1c was 126 and my cholesterol was 7.5. Just got a text from the doctor with my results. My HbA1c is down to 70 and my cholesterol down to 2.7. Yes!!! I know my target range for HbA1c should be 20 - 42. If I keep going in the right direction, how long...

I agree - a one off. It's sometimes the small things that make our predicament a little more bearable.

    Chip shop chips

Ah, thanks! It's the experience. You're absolutely right. It's not really about the food. I've proved over the course of nearly 3 months that I can turn my situation around. I've recently celebrated a big birthday - albeit in lockdown, and I had not one item that veered off the programme...

    Chip shop chips

I know, I know...not good, but hear me out. I was diagnosed in January 2021. Had a very high HbA1c reading of 126. Had my second set of bloods taken today. On the day of my diagnosis, my blood glucose level was 26 mmol. Today, 2.5 months later it's 7.5 mmol. I've lost 1.5 stone in weight...

thank you. That’s worth looking into. My cholesterol was very high - 7.5, so doctor recommended taking. I do hope that at my next session, next Tuesday that both my HbA1c drops significantly and hopefully the cholesterol too.

    Weird throbbing - diabetes related?

Over the last few weeks I’ve been experiencing occasional twitching feelings in the arch of my foot. I’ve also had it in my neck and upper arm. I’m relatively recently diagnosed. My initial HbA1c was 126. My fasting daily blood readings have been around 7.5 - so I’ve improved significantly...

    Pulsating foot arches

At night, over the last week, I’ve been experiencing strange pulsating sensations in the arches of both feet. To touch, the muscle is spasming. Could this be a result of increasing metformin to 2000mg per day? Is this common with diabetes?

    Recently diagnosed, morning blood readings

Thank you. I was diagnosed as T2. My diet pre-diagnosis was incredibly skewed towards carbs, sugar, processed rubbish. I quite often would not even have meals and would eat biscuits, chocolate bars, and crisps. I feel terribly ashamed writing that. However, since my diagnosis, I've...

    Recently diagnosed, morning blood readings

II was diagnosed 1 month ago. Upon returning from the doctor I took a BS reading and got a 26 mmol result (5pm). I've been taking metformin (now on 4 tablets per day). For the last week, my morning fasting levels averaged 7.5mmol. However, the last 2 days they've been a little higher - 9.3...

    Diablo no added sugar

Thank you - that's really appreciated. I'm pretty close to your meal suggestions there. Aside from that.... WOW WOW WOW Just looked at your profile footer. You are an absolute inspiration. Seeing someone who's numbers were similar to mine and who has achieved what you've done. Wow. Good on...

Struggling and feeling a little overwhelmed

Thanks! Good suggestion but no alcohol for me, completely teetotal - even before the diagnosis. I might switch it for a glass of low sugar orange squash!

Struggling and feeling a little overwhelmed

Thank you! My vegetarianism is holding me back. My wife is keen for me to revert but I've been a vegetarian for 35 years! I need to know which quorn and plant-based and soya-protein meat substitutes I can rely on. She's just made me an amazing salad of: cucumber, cherry tomatoes, avocado...

Struggling and feeling a little overwhelmed

Diagnosed last week. Been doing ok, until just now. Staring into the fridge, looking in the cupboards. I just didn't know what I should/shouldn't be eating. Until now, I've been looking for anything very low on carbs and sugar. Is there a guide somewhere that indicates how much carbs...

Newly diagnosed - expected change in BG levels

Thank you, that's great advice. Will definitely try the recipe - but psyllium husk powder is new on me! I'm taking some positives out of my diagnosis in that I will start to discover lots of new foods. I will definitely test re the porridge as I really enjoy it, but will drop it if it's...

Newly diagnosed - expected change in BG levels

I would love to know if eating eggs daily (2 for scrambled egg) is ok. I would expect to perhaps have scrambled egg 3 - 4 times per week and porridge for the remaining 3 days.
