Roadie cyclists what do you eat during a ride?

It does thank you :) in hindsight now I’m educating myself on all this I think I’ve had an issue for a few years before a blood test at Gp picked this up. I’m trying to gradually increase ride length to try go get used to what , for me, is a lower blood sugar level than I was used to now I have...

Roadie cyclists what do you eat during a ride?

When I started my ride yesterday the reading was 11. After 35 miles and 2000’ it was 6.8 with just water. I had eaten a small portion of rolled Oates with green tea before I rode. I felt ok going round but towards the end I was feeling like I was riding into a strong headwind even though there...

Roadie cyclists what do you eat during a ride?

I’m pre diabetic and cycle as much as I can. 18 months ago I was easily capable back to back century rides , since then I have struggled as this pre diabetes thing has become worse and my levels are borderline type 2 now. I can now only ride about 40 miles before it starts to feel like riding...

    Test monitoring templates

I see this more for my own understanding of the impact of my lifestyle on the condition and how changes I make affect it . I’m hoping it will give me some structure and basis to ‘control’ it and by doing so reduce the worry .

    Test monitoring templates

Just been googling for templates to monitor test results , loads out there but haven’t seen one with enough space for comments/notes. I may end up just doing my own but thought I’d ask in case it highlights better options . If there is already a thread on this my apologies. Big thanks :)

    Beginner woes setting up Tee2+

Just got first successful test ... 11mmol/l came as a shock , I’m pre diabetic I’m told not type 2 . I had a bowl of porridge with a banana and chi seeds about 30 mins before the test , but for two days before that I’d been fasting as I had to go to hospital for a minor op .

    Beginner woes setting up Tee2+

Good advice thank you all :) my hands were cold and I hadn’t thought about warming them up to get blood to flow better. I have the needle set on number 3 as that’s where it said to start at in the instructions . I felt it good and proper too lol! I dipped it vertically but will try the 45degree...

Where else can a guitarist prick to test other than fingers ?

Thanks all... I think I’ll try to use a location off of the fingers entirely once I get the hang of this testing ‘regime’. The libre will be were I end up I suspect . Still finding setting up the Tee2+ a challenge this morning lol!

    Newbie - overwhelmed and confused

I’m new here too and got some good links on this thread. Now I’ve got two free metres strips and lancets packs arrived on the post. Very helpful at spirit if you call them :) https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/New-pre-diabetic-here-just-realising-this-could-get-serious-%21.180658/

    Knee pain-cycling

I’m a ‘roadie’ so this likely isn’t the issue on a MTB but Just by way of general observation my experience has been that far to many bikes are sold with the ‘standard’ race gearing large front rings and rear cog set ups that can cripple a ‘non light weight born small frame ‘ rider. Not...

    Any ‘Roadie’ cyclists on here?

Thank all :) I did play about with the ketone thing but never felt to well so gave up. With this pre diabetic thing now it sounds like the way to go, I just didn’t know how it fitted in with a diabetic diet ( it’s all very new to me still). When I tried it before I found it tough to keep pace on...

    Any ‘Roadie’ cyclists on here?

How do you fuel your rides properly with diabetes? I’m newly diagnosed as ‘pre diabetic’ and keen to ensure it doesn’t get worse. Cycling is a huge part of my life ( completed trans America bike race 2019 for example) and I want to keep riding at that level. Exercise I’m told is also key to...

The meter and starter pack of strips and lancets was free . I bought a box of 50 or so extra strips for £11 as well. Should be here in four days ...
