    hi! I was diagnosed when i was 11 and i am now 17. I have learnt that it is a good idea to carry glucose/sugar tablets around with me incase my blood sugar goes a bit low. Never stop doing your insulin and remember to do your bm. Do you do 4 injections a day? xxxx

    you dont have to be over 40 to get diabetes. Type 1 is quite common in younger ppl. I'm 16 and when i was diagnosed at the age of 11, my mother noticed that i was thirsty all the time and i had lost a lot of weight. Have you noticed any weight loss? if so, u should go and see a doctor asap...

    First 3 month test

    hi steve, its great that u are getting your diabetes under control. I had my check-up today and my HbA1c is also 7.4% (8% last time). I do feel that it may be due to the fact i gave up chocolate for lent..... :D Having a percentage of between 6 - 7 indicates that you have good control...

    I Would expect them to see you sooner if there was an indication of diabetes. From what i know, these symptoms are not typical of diabetes, but there is a chance due to your dad being diagnosed.     well, i'm close to being the youngest, 16 but nearly 17. Most ppl do seem 2 be older on here though, but i suppose there are many ages ppl can be above 16 than below it.

    any1 got type1 diabetes and drinks alcohol?

    drinking alcohol makes ure bm go high and then low very quickly. After a night out, eat something on ure way home (bag of chips)/wen u get home, so that wen ure blood sugar falls due to the alcohol, the carbs will keep it at an ok level. having diabetes shouldnt stop u from having fun........
