    antibiotics abd blood sugars

I suspect you'll find that it is the infection you are being treated for which is causing the high blood sugars. I doubt it is the antibiotics, but if in doubt talk to your doctor. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    University Freshers Tips

Sorry to hear that big daddy. But I would add as a caveat, if you do drink spirits and wine only, watch your blood sugars very very closely and have a snack at bedtime. Its a good way to risk severe nocturnal/morning after hypoglycaemia. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    University Freshers Tips

Haha. Sorry. I think I just had bad memories when I read your post. There are going to be bad tenants, just as much as there are going to be bad landlords. That said - the tenants you mentioned sound more like animals than students. Blimey. Definitely let everyone you know about your...

    University Freshers Tips

I left university 5 years ago. Having been ripped off by a couple of dodgy landlords in my time, I can safely say that you are not at the top of my friends list. My advice Re landlords is take photos of everything when you move in. Check and double check your inventory, and make sure your...

    Hovis bread changed carbs..

Some of you may be aware that Hovis has changed its recipe recently, and its branding slightly. (the best of both one at least) Well, obviously it's been done to save money. Thieving buggers. I was eating it for breakfast this morning, and thought the slices looked a little smaller. So I...

    Male or Female?

I wonder whether they were commenting in respect of maturity and independence. I would probably argue that girls become more independent sooner than boys, and thus could take control of their diabetes sooner. On the other hand, I disagree. Body image is potentially more important to girls...

    Dawn phenomenon and pumping

Sounds like you have a good understanding of what to do, adjusting, fasting etc. Sorry it's not straightforward for you. You may have already thought of this, but have you considered the carbs you are eating in the evening. There's some suggestion that certain carb heavy foods like pizza can...

Any tips for keeping cannula stuck on in hot weather?

Hi guys. Been on the pump for about 6 months now. Very happy with it. Had some teething troubles, but pretty settled now. Main reason for posting... I'm not having any real problems with the hot weather we've had recently. However, when doing strenuous exercise, the sweat from heat and...

Best Pump for Watersport / Sea Rowing

True. But I believe the OP said he may be at sea for more than just a couple of hours. I think I read somewhere on here previously about a waterproof case for insulin pumps.... Have a search around Google for waterproof insulin pump cases and see what you can find... Sent from the Diabetes...

    Accu chek tenderlink cannula?

I've been on the pump for about 6 months. I feel like a different person. Anyhow... I started with rapid ds - they were ok for a while, although I found if I were twisting or bending too much, they used to get a little sore. The dangling tubing wasn't a big deal for me, but I'm happier...

    Rapid D link

Very useful, thanks. Im going to try some tenderlinks and see how I get on. I suspected it was lack of glue near the needle or possibly needle length. Or tunneling. Lol. Or a conbination. Useful tip tho, Will see how I get on. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Rapid D link

Thanks for the reply. Its bit the air bubbles I struggle with. Im somewhat obsessive at trying to avoid them. My concern is with regards to s8gnificant leaks of insulin at the cannula site on the skin. I managed to get hold of some tenderlinks today, so will see yow they go. Sent from the...
