    Food Rant!

I always find people with a little knowledge far more dangerous and irritating than those that have none. Narrow beaten by those that have none and pretend they wrote the book on the subject! I'm finding the same reaction - today, a small serving of chicken salad and one of beef salad was...

    Finger Prickers

I'm quite sensitive on my finger tips too, though obviously, I can't vouch for how similar to you...everyone perceives it differently. I use OneTouch Ultrasoft lancets, they're 0.4mm, and not too bad. OneTouch also do Comfort lancets, which are apparently 0.2, so thinner should equal less...

    Theresa May (MP)

I'll wager a fiver right now that even though someone in authority has come out and said they have the same condition as many of us, this MP will have no problems in getting free strips, lancets etc....but there will be no change in the treatment of those of us battling tfor the same....

    Confirmed T2...

That's what i thought too.......and thats what they where testing. So best disregard the numbers and revert to BG. Guess I'll have to wait for future tests to get an HbA1c...not that I'm complaining - I loathe needles!

    Confirmed T2...

Thanks EllisB for pointing out the HbA1c figures....looked up the correlation table that is on this community and here are my figures from the OGTT: Fasting level, pre drink = 51 (6.8 in 'old money') 2 Hours post drink = 109 (12.1 in 'old money') These figures calculated from the 'old money'...

    Fave music or comedy clips...

These are the funniest comedy moments I can think of right now: http://youtu.be/beCYGm1vMJ0 - absolute classic! And these, featuring the beloved, irreplaceable and unequalled, Ronnie Barker: http://youtu.be/_eTsns2DfDM http://youtu.be/aJ0nFQgRApY http://youtu.be/BdMZZmTWhLs...

    What bread is best???

I'm echoing the sentiments of Netty, Zola and Hopeful.....although mak sure it's proper wholemeal or granary and not just brown bread......which I think my DW picked up the other day.... Cue post prandial sugar of 14.6....... Also, when we say wholemeal is better, that doesn't mean white bread...

    BS drop rates?

I didn't inject anything..... Today's been totally wild... 7.8 pre breakfast, 10.1 post 5.4 pre lunch, 14.6 post (yay!, NEW PERSONAL RECORD!) Breakfast is shredded wheat, tea. Lunch yesterday was Kidney beans, rice, soup, gain and onions. Today was a small ciabatta with pastrami...and a...

    A REAL Cure for Diabetes

This sort of pie in the sky posting, coupled with its tone of being a touch holier than thou really get my goat. My paternal grandmother was T2 - afro-carribbean origins. She lived a pretty healthy diet, and was "normal" in terms of body shape etc.....it skipped my dad (overweight) and I have...

    Confirmed T2...

I posted in here at the beginning of June after some fasting bloods suggesting diabetes and the GP's insistence.... Finally got my Oral glucose results back an hour ago.... Fasting - 6.8 2 Hours post drink - 12.1 I am now officially T2. have yet to see what comes next - see GP on Thursday (yet...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn I don't know what it was this morning, but yesterday morning I posted 8.8 and my last FGT at the doctors was 6.8, despite an almost 12 hour fast.....I'd love to have the results of my OGT back and see those before and after figures too.

    BS drop rates?

I'm trying to work out what a "normal" rate for blood sugar levels to come down by over time would be. This has been prompted by a day when, no matter what I ate or when I tested, I could not get below 8.5 and this morning, where two hours after eating breakfast (shredded wheat, 1 cup of tea) my...

How do you keep cool and stable in the 'heat' ?

I'm not sure what my sugar levels are doing, haven't tested all week, but started again today after an OGTT yesterday AM....this morning.....9.6 two hours after eating (coffee, shredded wheat + milk) - yep, the sligght dizziness is there alright....... Will try and relate levels to heat the...

    Frustrated.

Hi Clayman, glad the eye surgery went ok. I've just been reading the thread from the start, and I have to echo some of your sentiments about the experience of dealing with some members of the medical profession. I went in for "routine bloods" due to being on blood pressure meds, and came out...

    Less Painful Injection?

What about the Injex thing, or similar delivery systems? I love the idea of it, especially if I needed to be on insulin and inject regularly.

    Cysts

Not sure if it's the same sort of thing, but I get mad cysts that roughly 50% turn to abcesses all over my inner thighs, belt line, crotch area..... combination of heavy clothing, heavy build, heat, friction and pressure....not sure if there's a connection to bg levels. Worth a chat with your...

    Upcoming OGTT (and an idea)

After two FBG tests, where I fasted for 12+ and posted 6.3 and 6.8 respectively, couple with spikes of 13.3 and 10.9 almost 3 hours after eating (tuna mayo on white, cortado coffee respectively), and one outstanding comedy mooment when I spaced out completely and tried to dry my hands on the...

    Advice Needed!

Testing your pee is, from what I read on here, potentially not a reliable indicator of BG levels, as your body only "dumps" glucose into the urine when your body can't cope with it already. I'll let a more experienced member clarify that though. There seems to be discrepancies between how...

    Advice Needed!

Hi Kerchinga, welcome to the world of blood glucose readings.... I've found that potatoes do increase levels. I've not been officially given a definitive diagnosis of T2, but it's pretty much a done deal at this point. Not sure about your drop - that does seem quite drastic and I think would...

Here I come, ready or not.......

I refer you to dave's comment earlier in the thread about anything being ok if counteracting with sufficient insulin.... :D Last night's fun and games: Pre dinner : 6.3 @ 5:20pm. I'd not eaten since 12:30 (two slim lamb sausages, four piece of roast sweet potato) apart from water, and was...
