Thanks Bluetit1802,I've still got a fair bit to go to reach my BMI given by the doctor but the low carding seems to of helped.

My journey with my new pal Type 2

Well just got my results but they are too clear. First as was told all was normal. Not what I asked for and type 2 (while becoming more common in the general population) is normal. The receptionist admitted she doesn't know how to read them. I got a 4.3 for cholesterol but she couldn't tell me...

My journey with my new pal Type 2

Well its been a while since I've been on the site so I thought a little update was in order. I went for my 6 monthly test today and hope to have my blood samples results back sometime next week. I've lost 1 1/2 stone (rather surprised it wasn't more) , my blood pressure is down to normal.So...

Three meals a day,do we need them?

Sorry folks I've not been on the site for a while busy with others things but thanks for your continued interest. George 1951 some interesting results, wonder if anyone in the medical profession would look at a trial with a test group to see if this is more than one persons reaction to life style...

Three meals a day,do we need them?

Funny enough Zand I've found that if I'm very busy and away from the office , miss a meal .I can feel less hungry for that day. But I worry in the long term it can't be too good for me. But its a beggar to get the balance right, but we all try.

Three meals a day,do we need them?

What a "popular" athlete with type 2 diabetes? What the popularity of the an athlete has to do with the subject is beyond me. Why would anyone with type 2 be wanting to put weight on, unless they wanted to make their condition worse.

    Dating with Diabetes

Thanks for the advice folks :) jack412 wasn't so much getting my head around it , got that sorted a while now. More the life style change on a regular track, not something everyone would find easy to fit in with at the start. I'm not looking for a nurse maid and need to scotch that at the...

    Dating with Diabetes

I took time out from dating to get my head round being told I had type 2. While things can always go wrong I'm pretty happy I've got it under control for now. So my question is at what stage in the dating game do you tell the other person you have diabetes? Straight away and then get all the...

    Carbs per meal

I find it hard to carb count so try to cut them out as much as possible, but that doesn't work for everyone.

Three meals a day,do we need them?

I'm up at 6am most mornings so need my breakfast.I used to listen to my body too much and that's why I reached 22 stone. I'm one of those people who must have a faulty gene (it would be good if we are offered these sort of tests when we are told we have diabetes) telling me I'm not full when...

My journey with my new pal Type 2

Hi Cara, No meter from them ,lots of reasons why I don't need one though. I can't blame them too much as they are only following guidelines and they are monitored on what they teach. Good job I bought my own soonish after being told I had type two :) They were a bit sniffy about testing high...

My journey with my new pal Type 2

Saw my new Doc this morning.Hurrah! A lot better than the old one, she was open, informative and all round helpful. Days like this make me feel there is still hope for the NHS. Her only worry was my cholesterol which should be lower. So one more blood sample just to make sure before she put me...

No longer have Type 2 diabetes - Official!

I agree with you there Sir.On lots of conditions I think we as a society have got into a trend of handing responsibility to treatments (silver bullets) or medication alone. When in fact we all have to take responsibility for our own health with the help of the NHS etc.

    Another silly post?

Maybe the more healthier stuff is still in too larger quantity? If you cut out all processed food first, its a big step. Then you could look at the healthy fresh stuff. You don't have to do everything at once ,little steps can add up. Cutting out junk is a major step forward. Best of luck. :)

Three meals a day,do we need them?

Thanks for the great feedback good people of diabetes uk, you've given me lots to think about. I wasn't suggesting anyone should try it, just thinking if it would do me any harm and are we're caught in the three day a mill routine. The second bit you've already addressed, which is no not...

Three meals a day,do we need them?

Just thinking aloud here and I've no agenda. What's the evidence that anyone needs three meals a day and more importantly that those with type 2 need three a day instead of just two. I'm always told by my nurse to keep an even balance of sugar levels during the day, which is near impossible for...

    Diagnosed this morning type 2

Ha Ha emzy, so you have access to a meter ;) . In the short term and as long as you remember to change the testers etc you could be proactive and use your hubbies if you wanted and get to know what foods make your sugar levels spike?
