    I have been taking metformin for some years with no apparaent side effects. Rcently I have been suffering stomach problems-nausea, bloating, stomach ache and constipation. In trying to fing out why I wondered if Metformin side efects could kick in even if one has taken them for a long time.

    I;m afraid I didn't make myself clear.I'm not on diet alone, I take Glaglacide and metformin. I take a reading at night because I have had hypos in the past and I can top up if too low, The night reading has, in the past, been a good indication of my HBA1C.

    constipation

    I have been a t2 Diabetic for many years. No I seem to have developed very bad constipation and it is a real effort to have my bowels open. I believe some experts equate this with Diabetes. Any other sufferers?

    Testing

    I test once a day but always before I go to bed because a Hypo in the middle of the night is quite unpleasant. I've woken up once or twice sweating and confused and had to get some sugar inside me.

    testing

    I bought another meter of a different make to have a spare. I took a reading with both meters using the same blood sample. My old meter read 5.5, my new meter read 6.1. What use is this testing if such varying results occur?

    If you are getting muscle pain it might well be the Statins. Some people can't take them I've had them for years with no side efect but a friend had to come off them because of muscle pain.

    Rampril

    Many Diabetics are given Rampril to control blood pressure. I was recently diagnosed with high potassium which is dangerous. My GP rang me in a bit of panic and told me to stop taking Rampril. It seems everything we take has an adverse effect on something else.
