2015/16 Football Season

Nothing to do with this season, but I've just been pointed in the direction of a load of Programme Covers from yesteryear. You'll find them on Flashbak , but to give some idea of what they're like, here's Gordon Strachan enjoying himself, in the days before he became Scotland (or, indeed, Saints) Manager :)

40 p, eh? Those were the days ......

I have some programmes buried deep in a box from the last fifty years.
But my most treasured programme which I had kept from my first game was binned by my mum, when she cleaned up my bedroom when I moved out! I thought it safe!

It was from 1968. Everton v Tranmere, FA cup third round! Result 2-0!

Think the cost was 6d.

For some reason, BFS is my tip to get Black cats relegated this season!

Mind you have you seen my predictions over the past couple of years?

Ha!

We beat MK Dons 2-0 now i was surprised at that id have quite happily settled with a draw. My heart was in my mouth for long enough i had a sense of Dejavu when we went 1-0 up but we clung on and the 2nd came in stoppage time. I reckon Derby will be a tough cookie on Saturday and if we did manage to beat them id be dead chuffed. UTT

We lost out in a 5 goal thriller away at Northampton next up away on Saturday to Wycombe

It's the north east derby this weekend, it's MASSIVE up here, everything just stops for 90 minutes and you can hear the match in every street.
As you can tell by my name I'll be cheering on the home side

Certainly a passionate derby match ️ for both teams and supporters always eventful and always good to watch for us neutrals

Talking of local Derbies, some of you may recall that my son is now at Uni in Sheffield and was facing the United or Wednesday dilemma. With Nigel Adkins being appointed Manager of United in June and Dean Hammond now joining the club, the Saints Factor has become too obvious to ignore so it's United all the way :D

We don't have a derby

C'mon, drop to our level, then you can play Barrow!

That's what Rovers did, to get some, none for years, then like a no. 42 bus, eight local derbies, and I mean local, it's been fun so far! Except the idiots!

If we drop down to the conf we might never come back up again

To be honest, I'm enjoying the conference more than league two!
It could be that we are doing better but I think it is the competitive nature of this level, there are definitely better players and it is very demanding on players and fans.

But I wouldn't wish it on any club, it is so difficult, says, every other club in this league, to get out and back in the football league. But it is good this level! There are so many clubs that want to get promoted. All the way Down to seventeenth are in with a shout!
