2017/2018 Football Season

I see that Watford have canned Silva: I wonder if we'll take him on? He was on the shortlist as a replacement for Puel, but opted for Watford, and surely we can't carry on with Pellegrino much longer. Can we?

Watford have been harsh on Silva like Saints were harsh on Puel

Watching Saints v Spurs

Well, it ended one-all, which was better than I expected, but we're still in the drop zone :(

You need to spend the money you got for Virgil on a decent striker

Good luck in the dogfight and that goes to Hudds too hope you both stay up

Former England captain Jimmy Armfield has died at the age of 82 following a battle with cancer, Blackpool FC has confirmed.

Armfield, who was born in Denton, Greater Manchester, was capped 43 times by England, 15 of them as captain, and made a club record 627 appearances for the Seasiders.

He went on to manage Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United and was a commentator for BBC Radio 5 Live for more than 30 years.

RIP Jimmy. A true legend in his own right.

I heard on MOTD2 last night that Watford had sacked Marco Silva over Everton's approach for him. In some ways it seems a bit harsh but on the other hand if his interests are elsewhere then he may not be giving his all to Watford. They have soon replaced him with Javi Gracia. That certainly was quick.

Thanks. I dunno what our excuse is cos we bought a new player and signed 1 on loan till end of season. Wagner seems insistant that we don't need any more players so I dunno. Truth is we don't have the kind of money needed to compete with the likes of City, Utd, Arsenal etc. So I guess we just gotta be content with survival.

No I reckon Pelligrino must be sweating it now if you don't start to pick up soon you may well have to part company with him. Hope you manage to survive along with us. Good luck.

The Seagulls at the end of the month, then West Brom. I reckon if we lose either of those, he's dead meat. I was never that enthused by Puel but getting rid of him is looking more and more like a bad decision with every passing week. He must be laughing like a drain....

I agree, there were rumours about Theo Walcott coming back - but he's chosen to go to Everton, which I would if I were him.

The local paper claims that negotiations are in progress for Quincy Promes (Dutch winger from Spartak Moscow) and Guido Carillo (Argentinian striker from Monaco). Thirty million for Promes and twenty for Carillo so it's quite a gamble, in our terms, but obviously it'll be well worth it if we stay up. But it hasn't happened yet anyway, so who knows?

There are rumours all over the place that the Club are planning for next season on the basis that we will be in the Championship, so not making any expensive long-term signings hitching the club to large salaries going forward. Struggling clubs always have some kind of contingency plan in place, and the more extreme rumours could be (indeed probably are) a load of old tut, but they would be depressingly defeatist, if true.

I think Wagner's job is pretty safe even if we do go back down I don't think Deano and co would wanna part with the guy. He's brought so much to the club in the 2 years or so that he's been with us. (its a wonder nobody have been after poaching him maybe they have on the quiet and he's knocked em back sorta thing. Cos I'm pretty sure there's plenty would want him as manager) I reckon its the players that seem to have gone off the boil. They seem to lack the lets have a damned good go theory.

Yay! Wem-ber-ley. Arsenal beat Chelsea:):D Bring on Man City lol.

@Cumberland - you going to the match on Saturday? My family are now thinking that maybe we will go :D Still not decided yet though....

Off we go with another day of footy. We play host to the Brummies this afternoon. Hoping they beat us then we can concentrate all efforts on the league. We got 2 nasty games coming up with Liverpoo on Tuesday and Man Utd on Saturday.

Good luck everyone hope your team gets a win :)

And we go to a replay. We scored first and Brummy equalised. I was hoping they would score another knock us out. No such luck unless they do it at theirs.:D
Saints go marching on in to round 5 @jay hay-char well done lad :)
Carlisle won well done :)
Tranmere drew 1 point better than nowt I suppose. :)

Cheers. We need a few more results like that in League games. I am rather of the same mind as you about carrying on in the Cup.....

Oh well :) Good stuff, Carlisle; congrats, Cumbs.
