Hello John.C. Welcome to the Forum. Everyone on this forum is friendly and knowledgeable should you want to ask for advice.
Your blood sugar reading is rather high and I agree with Mike D - you need to see your GP. Keep us posted on the Forum how you get on.

Hi. Yes, you must see the GP. I assume you know that the best time to take a reading is 2 hours after a meal. Do let us know whether you are T1 or T2 and what sort of diet you are having.

Thanks for the replies
I am T2. After getting the 21.5 I took 1000g Metformin and 20min on the exercise bike.
which after 1hr my blood was 18,
All day I have been very cautious of what I ate porridge, subway salad bowl 2 cups of coffee
test before tea meal 14.5.
I have not long had my tea I am going to do another test at 22.00hr.
Didn't go to doctors work commitments.
I'll let you know what the test results are later.
thanks

Still way too high @John.C

What did you eat and your reading after your first bite? Did you drink anything with it?

Hi John.C. That is HIGH! I see that you are on 1000mg of Metformin, is that all you take? You really need to make an appointment and see your GP, he/she may increase your Metformin. Keep us informed on the forum. Thanks.

Diet is crucial..I wouldn't even think about taking porridge...or cereal..or toast..or blah blah blah. For example..my levels after a bowl of "food that's good for you" (eg. porridge, bran, oatmeal, any kind of "healthy" cereals) was about 14.5...with smoked cheese slices or bacon instead -.6.5. Just sayin...noting food, readings before and after - is where the control is.

You should trying to answer the questions we've posed so we can attempt to help you. Readings are one thing but the underlying causes are another.

Hi. Your age and weight/BMI are important factors in determining whether you might be a mis-diagnosed T1 as well as some tests. If you are slim or have lost weight unexpectedly then T1 can always be a possibility like it was for me and different and aggressive meds will be needed. If you have a lot of excess weight then the Metformin, exercise and low-carb diet will all help and there are non-insulin injectables that can be used for a while with a lot of excess weight. Do let us know a bit more and do see the GP/DN if you can.

Thank you all for your input I really do appreciate it.

I am 54 ,19.7 stones, bmi.39.1
I was diagnose T2 12 months ago.
I got In touch with the Doctor today he said to get my bloods tested asap
I'm booking blood tests in the morning
bloods today were: Before Breakfast 15.6 ( 2 x seeded toast 3 x slices of ham 2 x fried eggs )
2hrs After Breakfast 20.
Lunch ( 1 bag of mixed nuts )
2hrs after 12.5
Evening meal ( pork steak topped with stuffing, carrot & swede mash, broccoli and sprouts)
2hrs after 16.4
Not looking forward to fasting

Hey John, I cna see from your food that you're making a real effort here. I'd advise totally abandoning toast (and bread)...seriously...consider the carb content of the ham (is it processed?..bacon is better), skip the carrots too. the bag of nuts - soem are really good others less so, and a whole bag even of good stuff (brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pinenuts) would spike my levels...better to pick away throughout the day. Check the carb content. Recording your levels premeal and 2 hours after will tell you whether its good for you or not. Plenty of fluid helps too. Good luck, mate.
