Hi, I’ve just recently had my driving license updated for another 3 years. I was expecting to be sent to an opticians appt for an eye test like the first time I applied for my license is this not the case? I’ve filled all the medical forms they sent and today have received my new updated license.

I am on my 4th or 5th 3 years driving license due to having diabetes treated with insulin.
I have never been sent to the optician's for an eye test but then I am able to tick the box that I meet legal eyesight standard for driving without glasses.

I don't think I've ever been sent to the opticians either and I do need to tick the box saying I need glasses for driving (I'm a bit shortsighted) - note: I don't think I had to when I first applied for my license either but then that was back in 1992 so I've gone through a fair amount of 3 year license renewals in that time :)

I am in the same boat, I have never been sent to the opticians. Have had annual retinopathy screening.

I had a field of vision test and an ordinary eye test for my first ever driving license so I just assumed I’d have to have an eye test at every license renewal!
